Teresa DownUnder ...because you’re always making blocks and quilts. Do you get a Frequent-Buyer discount at the fabric store or do you order online?

I don’t. I actually don’t make lots quilts. What I do a lot of is playing with blocks, trying new things but I don’t make a lot of full quilts

Is the backing not quilted ? Is it loose? I don’t understand the backing. Can you do a video on attaching the backing? Thanks

I will do a video but basically you just sew the blocks together, press the seams open, and then add the backing fabric and stitch all three layers along each side of the seam.

What kind of batting do you use in this sample? It's rather thin, almost like fusable ... QAYG is a great way of using up narrow scraps!

It’s cotton batting. It could be Hobbs or Sew Easy. I normally use cotton, sometimes bamboo, in those brands.

Thanks for the video! Ive been looking for a QAYG video and many seem incomplete, just the quilt top, now that the quilt has been quilted, how are the quilted pieces put together?

I make mine a bit different, but I sew the blocks into strips then sew the strips together. Sandwich with batting and stitch in the ditch.

Vera I’ll do a tutorial for putting blocks together without sashing soon. But if you want to use sashing look for my qayg tutorials with wide sashing and with narrow sashing.

+Teresa DownUnder - I'm looking forward to see your method of putting the blocks together without sashing (and maybe even a completed quilt however small?). I think it might encourage more people to attempt to do their own actual quilting stitches vs. sending their quilts out to a costly longarmer. Some of us don't ever plan on entering our quilts in a contest, so the traditional way isn't always necessary for us. Thanks!

Thanks Teresa Downunder...thanks for replying. im learning a lot in making blocks, FG, HST, QST, Whole cloth quilt, but this QAYG has me so confused. I know how to sandwich a quilt and do lines, but not completed comfortable to quilt EACH block first. Thank for the soon to come video for putting quilted blocks together without sashing.
