Do you shoot video? If so what’s your setup?

Yes, I shoot video, but always looking to shoot more. I use a Fuji XT3, either handheld (my preference) in a SmallRig kit or gimballed on Ronin S.

As a photographer/freelance sometimes you exchange work for educational experience, resume building, etc. Like a college internship. As long as you are getting value from the exchange it’s perfectly fine to work at a discount when it’s you taking the initiative.

I totally agree Logan, having that. mentality puts you way ahead of the game. So many photographers don't and that really stunts them.

Honestly, like you mentioned, anyone who hasn’t started yet is way behind the game. Even drone photography and video seem to be yesterday’s big thing. So I’m racking my brain trying to guess what could be the next big thing, because the video and drone waves seem to have passed me by already. I can’t help but think that becoming proficient in either of those two fields would require a massive investment both in gear and practice/training. Maybe two-three years at least, I’m terms of time. Am I being to pessimistic? Also, if you had to pick one to get started now, with an eye on career opportunities, would it be drone video/photo or “regular” video?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Yomismo, to answer your question I’d say if you’re just starting out video is king for sure , he’s tiff being a one stop shop to do everything and sell video to your clients and photography to your video clients. I’d say drone is important sure but drone work alone is hard to make a living.
