Well done Colin 😀 I would want to leave it alone now its so close, not knowing when to stop often ruins the day of success.

I'd call that a success. Nice one.

I always replace all the caps regardless , then if faults still then you can look without the worry of the caps

Could have done that, but it wouldn't have fixed the fault.

It was a good idea to calibrate the video head with a piece of paper if you don't have the special calibration tool for the Betacam head. I will also use that idea if I have to change my video head on one of my Betacams. Thanks for the trick

The AG4700 and NV-HS1000 service manuals I checked shows the exact same power supply PCB with the same part number. The SM 1996 revisions notes changes in a bunch of the other pcbs and the head drum but the power PCB seems to have been kept. The schematic diagram shows different values to the parts list on both models for C1140/1141 and possibly more in both models however.

Interesting, there must have been a bunch of component changes.

Not sure if you figured out the rapidly spinning head drum on the panasonic, but I've seen that happen exactly once and I created the fault in a machine that wasn't doing it originally when I accidentally left a resistor unsoldered in the cylinder drive circuit and re-soldering it after did not fix the issue. Swapping the head drum also didn't do anything. I haven't fully done all of the swapping, but my guess is that something is wrong in the servo section. If you have a scrap machine that you can swap the servo board from, that might fix the one with the fault.

I swapped over the entire main panel and sub panels and the fault remained. I suspect the drum motor.

Hello Mr. Collin. This is offtopic but I wanna share an issue with my camera. I have a VHSC camcorder that I bought from a thriftshop, no issues at all, working fine. But after 5 days of using it, while inserting it through DC input, the LCD monitor along with the viewfinder got a glitchy picture and I heard an unpleasant motor sound inside the camera. I quickly unplugged the Unit, but after again plugging the dc input, the camera output (the LCD and viewfinder) is super glitchy, it turns on and off for every 3 seconds. It can no longer accept tapes as the camera turns on and off rapidly. Can you diagnose this? Thank u sir.

Does this mean that you're going to put the Sony UVW-1800P PAL Betacam SP recorder back onto the video transfering studio?
