a few years ago, unknown radio waves were detected being emitted from that galaxy. perhaps that was the star 'ringing its bell' before it went supernova... or an alien civilization sending a desperate signal for someone to save them from it... either way, it was 12 million years ago so they probably got over it :)

I was so lucky to have witessed of what we thought a supernova. It was evening time back in early 2010's when me together with my mom, dad and brother were just chilling outside our house, enjoying the amazing view of stars when suddenly we saw an "explosion"-like light in the sky. It was like a little star that shines brighter and brighter then after a few secods it became very bright. Size was almost a third of a full moon for maybe half a second and then the light disappeared. It was really cool and I can't forget what we saw back then.
@Kimond1225

That’s your opinion. It may not be a supernova but I am sure that we saw something.

Must be a wonderful experience. But I also saw something similar One evening when the sun was about to set I simply went outside to look at the stars, but suddenly, right on top of me, in the sky, something started to glow really bright ,almost as bright as venus, and became dim and started moving(like a star moving). At first I thought it was a supernova but later when I thought a lot over it, I came to a conclusion that it might be a satellite passing by which became visible as it was getting dark(like how the planets and stars become visible when it gets dark) but still I am not yet convinced

Sure! It would appear the same astronomer took the 'before and after' but then screwed up the second attempt with poor focus? Perhaps he hadn't as good a telescope two months later? Pfft, I don't know, it's not like it was an eclipse or something where he only had a few seconds to capture the "moment". Bit of a fail but at least we got to see the nova... sort of!

highly advanced alien civilization will be keep moving from one planet to another and they find a vicinity where there in no potential supernova neutron star or red dwarf black hole magnetar so the best place alien would find for them will be empty space away from galaxy. we are finding alien in the galaxy but living in the galaxy would be fatal for any great advanced civilization. so they chose out of galaxy with an artificial star.
