same, but on my pocket. Always like R-Type, first on my friend’s gameboy (I had a gamegear), then later on SNESX. But the one on Irem M92 was crazy

R Type was everywhere back in the day and Leo was one of the best

Nice to see the graphical glitches get fixed for NBBM. It only really affected the cutscenes/ending but it’s still nice to see it improved as it’s one of my fav beatem ups

Yes it’s a big improvement even if it has nothing to do with gameplay

Very cool! I've been playing a ton of Leo lately, and any improvements however small are more than welcome! So weird, I never really looked into the chipset for the M92 in the past. I had no idea until maybe two weeks ago that the V33 was X86, or how the supplemental Nanao chips worked (DMA controller, audio, etc.) Never really thought about anything X86 related (other than the loose Z80 relation) being used in consoles/arcades. :D (ok, FM Towns/Marty I guess) Always fun to learn new things about arcade chips. Especially when you've been following MAME development for almost two decades. Took me by surprise, and I didn't think there were many surprises left :D Now if only someone would work on that Kaneko VDP, so I could have Air Buster. That's one of the few arcade games that I REALLY want on the MiSTer or Pocket that isn't there already.

Ninja Baseball Batman was a discovery on MAME about a decade ago that I became a bit obsessed with. It’s got solid controls and graphics, and it’s so utterly bizarre that I had to keep playing just to see what comes next. It’ll be fun to play it on the MiSTer again. Was never a huge fan of R-Type Leo, always felt more like a “flash game port” of R-Type. It’s not bad, just my least favorite of the R-type series, though I think that speaks more to how good the first two R-types are more than a dig at Leo.
@VideoGameEsoterica6 ай бұрын
That’s just because it never started life as an R type. So it has a totally diff vibe

I would love to hear if IREM actually thought the slowdown of In The Hunt was fully intended. I have my doubts personally. I think it was too much, It brought it down from a "Great" Game to a "Good" Game for me.

From what I’ve heard it was at least “accepted” as fine. Is that intentional? Who knows

@@VideoGameEsoterica The market was not as crazy as it is now, I sold them all for 2000$ canadian dollars. Not all of them were working, but there was everything. One day, when I don't feel like crying, I will tell you of the day I have thrown 6 brand new Laser Disc players in their original scealed box in the garbage bin. I want to die when I think about that. They were all laser disc players compatible with arcade cabinets.

Great news! At 10:05 and 11:17 when the character disappears, is that a glitch that was in original hardware? Or is that a bug that still needs to be ironed out?

11:17 is no clitch in Mister IT IS a clitch of the original PCB. In mame i think there IS No Glitch and this is Not correct. You can search a Video in KZbin from original PCB and there IS this Glitch. Good Video👍

Answer received. It’s not in the edit. It’s YT frame rates messing with pseudo transparencies. If YT adjusts playback framerate it goes invisible. Just checked the capture. Doesn’t happen. Compression / data rate throttle aberration

Regarding Superior Soldiers - all jokes aside - I'm pretty sure it *was* broken on the older core - literally unplayable because only two buttons (out of the six) were actually functional / mappable.

does this one use roms or is it just arcade boards in update all? I'm not sure also, in general are arcade boards in the arcade folder standalone games or do some use roms?
@VideoGameEsoterica6 ай бұрын
Sorry I think you are asking if each game is a core or if it’s one core and you pick your game?
@AlexRoseGames6 ай бұрын
@@VideoGameEsoterica yeah for arcades. because for some arcade boards it feels like they are just 1 core and that runs 1 game, right. but is this one more like neogeo etc. where you boot the core and pick a game?
@VideoGameEsoterica6 ай бұрын
That just depends if there were ever any hardware deviations. Some platforms (Neo Geo) were the same the entire life. Other arcade boards might change one chip for one game but still be the same “platform”

I think it's important to keep the bad games preserved, too. The terrible fighting games make you appreciate how much SF2 got right so early on.
