This video actually does a pretty good job of showing his abilities in game, and his in-game theme fits his character really well. You were right about the bandages shooting to the moon; 'Bandage Toss' pulls him next to any enemy he hits with it (he wants to be friends). But then all of his other abilities are 'player based aoe', meaning he can't pick and choose his targets, he just hurts anything that gets close to him. 'Despair' he cries a lot and makes a pool of damaging tears around himself (as seen at the end of the video). 'Tantrum' he lashes out and flails (sort of like a mini version of what you correctly guessed was his Ultimate). Those two are name-dropped in the lyrics. Then his ultimate is 'Curse of the Sad Mummy', a large explosion that damages and stuns any enemies trapped it in. TLDR; his in-game abilities make it so that everyone who he gets close to either dies, or wants to run away.

7:55 It’s most likely a helmet, as you can see a sword on the banks near the water. 8:28 Yeah he’s a champion, and that rope is his ability to pull towards anything he grabs. 10:16 Yeah, that’s pretty accurate, it’ll keep him alive still. 10:29 I wouldn’t really call it a suicide attempt. The city beyond the gate is the hometown of his race. He is a yordle, a race of pretty small creatures, often with fur. That’s why the lyrics say “stood upon the ledge of home” because that’s the closest he’s gotten to his kind. 11:20 There’s 2 main stories the game provides us as to the origin of his curse. One is that he was a prince of a city in a desert who had a grave illness which didn’t kill him, but anyone near him got infected and withered away. A girl/servant would serve him, and always talked to him through a door until one day she went through and gave him a hug, which killed her. The girls mother, a witch, cursed the boy to never have another friend and that curse would kill everyone near him, so when he eventually died to his own disease and was entombed, he arose with no memory centuries or even millennium after his death buried under his long forgotten city. I kind of forgot the other one but this one seems on the nose. You can also notice that the curse causes everything near him to die and wither away. Throughout the entire video, if you look closely the plants nearby him shrivel. The best examples are 1:55, 2:12, 2:51, and 3:10. 3:08 Also, he’s thousands of years old, “for many years” is kind of an under exaggeration. The curse doesn’t necessarily make it so that nobody will ever come to him, but rather anyone near him will die, so they avoid him.
@tonypeppermint53294 жыл бұрын
So some more sadness onto Amumu's backstory in the video. Riot had lore that ran from 2009 to 2014 before changing it to the lore we know as it is today. It explained the game mechanics and how it fitted into the world of Runeterra itself, like the players being Summoners and how powerful characters were relearning their powers over and over again in matches on the Fields of Justice in the Institute of War, like Kayle and Morgana In this lore, Amumu traveled across the land and ended up at the Institute of War where the Summoners learned about his story and gave him a place live. In that old lore, Amumu, who was described as a yordle mummy who couldn't remember his own parents, had a home, success in the matches and most notably, friends who could help him uncover his past. Now in the 2014-present day lore, he has no one and he doesn't have any memory of his past, with the three guesses of who he is, Nunof2 did write down the comment which helped explain the stories. Personally for me, one of the saddest stories in League. Amumu has no one and he'll unintentionally harm people by being close to them.

Your level of analysis and eye for detail is why I watch reaction videos of only a select group of people even though I've seen some of these multiple times myself. I just need to share in that sense of discussion and honest perception of feeling and design of videos like these which I just don't seem to find in person company for. I do the pause by scene or moments thing too even though I've got no cinematographic background but I'm a bit of scenario writer, scene describer and actor through my Dungeon Mastering and Live Action Roleplaying and I've started recognising the dramatic effects and details a lot more than the people around me who lack the patience for such analysis with me. Even if it's something they're more knowledgeable about beforehand.

First of all, already knowing your reactions + Curse of the Sad Mummy = instaliked! Totally agree with the Limbo feeling. That first shadow that resembles a wolf, is actually the first teaser of a new champion at the time: Kindred. Kindred has a really cool concept where there are the wolf and the sheep, but both of them are as one, and they are like Death. Back to Amumu: yes, that part at the vocals is his ultimate. Another move of his is literally crying all over (which damages enemies around him while it's active). His lines in game are like "I just wanna be friends" and "Can I give you a hug?". And as others have suggested: Annie - Origins!

I think the "moon portal" section of the video is a reference to the "man in the moon": In multiple cultures there are fables and myths about a person on the moon. In some of the stories the person was stuck there by their own mistake and greed and in the others, the person was sent there as a punishment . One thing all those stories have in common is the sense of isolation and loneliness felt.

I couldn't find someone who see the metaphor in the shadow how I saw it too. And then the gate that I wasn't sure what to think about. You said it was heaven's gates and I knew I got lucky to be here. Even if it's not the image going in the producer's head, I think your interpretation makes perfect sense. His heated blood decision to let out his power, whatever happens, feels more understsandable now. And then again, the shadows that gives him the ability to travel and everything that it means : His unlimited time, his strong willing to chase after his hopes that would turn back on him. Imagine his past, he would have had a bad childhood, abandonned by his parents and the injustice he felt made him chase after immortality and it would cost him everything to go there. He wouldn't recall his last life but still have feelings and this curse.

Hey, just a little something, in those music videos there are keywords to the lyrics that are tied to the characters/champions abilities, like tantrun, bane and sorrow are from some of Amumu's abilities, just thought you would like to know. Great video.
@dezslock89744 жыл бұрын
Great video, really liked your insight. Amumu is basically cursed and destroys everything around him. The tragic is that he is not responsible for any of it. He is a child and is just looking for friends. When you pick him in game, he says 'I thought you'd never pick me'. In his short story a man tells a legend about Amumu. How a treasure seeker manages to get into a tomb and hears a cry of a child. He reaches a hall, which's floor is covered in water and it turns out it's all Amumu's tears but because of his curse, these tears hurt the others. The man, however, choses to help him and despite the pain he goes to save him, loosing his arm in the process. At the end of the story, a child asks the teller 'Father, where did you lose your arm?', to which he smiles. Also, as it seems you enjoyed the way the video is made, I'd highly suggest watching 'The Harrowing' video, again made by League. You'll see why. (spoiler: the waves made by papers going up and down, you'll see that there)

The blade/sword may be aatrox’s blade, he is a corrupted “god warrior” of Shurima, the empire that ammumu was an emperor over for a time. I can’t see very well in this video, I’d have to watch it again myself to check. After looking, it seems to be either aatrox’s old blade (he was reworked) or the deaths dance blade (an in game item) or possibly even the Blade of the Ruined King. Edit you’re correct about his abilities, his ultimate is a super tantrum of sorts that stuns everything around him. Another ability is a “bandage toss” which he flings some bandages and dashes to anyone hit. His passive is the curse of the sad mummy where he does 10% true dmg in place of that much magic damage. At any rate, you’re very very perceptive and I love it! The shield is probably a aegis of the legion if it’s anything, maybe a targons brace. I wasn’t around the league community 5 years ago so some of the item identification can be a bit messy at that far back for me.
