So, Annie is born with those powers. Mages study to get power, but sourcers (I think that's how you call "feiticeiros" on english) born with powers by some family antecedent. But, like Elsa from Frozen, they can't control very well, 'cause they are kids. So she burned her mother by accident, and ended up with this blonde stepmother. The Teddy Bear is more like a conductor for her powers and, when gets life in Giant Teddy Bear form, is a party of her soul there. A power that will protect her from now on, but was the cause of her being alone now.

Annie's parents, Gregori and Amoline, claimed a piece of land beyond the Ironspike Mountains. Other colonists’ tales of the great shadow bears that once roamed the territory had captivated Amoline-now heavily pregnant, she passed the time sitting near the fireplace, creating a toy version of the protective creatures. Just as she finished sewing the last button eye on the stuffed bear, the quickening of labor overcame her. Gregori remarked later that his daughter was eager to play with her new toy, for there, on an ember-warmed hearth, Amoline brought Annie into the world. When Annie was still a toddler, she and her father took ill. As night fell, Annie began to burn with fever, and soon she was so hot, she could no longer be held in her mother’s arms. Amoline grew desperate, deciding at last to fetch icy water from the nearby river. The next morning Gregori awoke, weak and groggy from his sickness. In the crib, a now-healthy Annie played with her stuffed bear, Tibbers, but Amoline was gone. Naïvely, Annie believed her mother would one day return. Gregori would often find the girl sitting in her mother’s rocking chair near the hearth, hugging Tibbers and staring into a crackling fire, where he was sure there had been nothing but cold ashes. He chalked up these slips of the mind to the burden of parenting a child alone. Annie was horrified as the last physical memory of her mother was threatened when Leanna was trying to rip it apart. Her terror grew to an unbridled rage, releasing her latent and powerful pyromancy, and the stuffed bear, Tibbers, was brought to life in a maelstrom of protective fire. Also, a not so fun fact, Annie and Amumu both are "cursed" to wander alone in the search for a friend similar to them.

Wait. Annie's cursed? Well, maybe that presents the possibility of Annie and Amumu meeting each other in the future and becoming each other's curse breakers. That'll be a nice ending to their tragic backstories.

Darren090909 I put cursed under quotation because Amumu is cursed in a literal sense. Annie is “cursed” in that she hopes to find and play with someone that is like her (an abnormal girl) where she doesn’t need to worry about the fragility of life like Daisy. Also, Amumu and Annie have only each other listed as “friends” in the League of Legends Lore Wiki

This is the New lore for Annie tho, the original lore was a better story IMHO. Annie's parents were both powerful mages that were living by that forest because of the shadow creatures and magic nearby. In the original lore Tibbers is actually a real Shadow Bear that Annie herself enscrolled when she was only 5. Her ult to summon tibbers was simply unleashing the bear again. I get the new story with the step mom / step sister but I still prefer the original story where Annie was a powerful and badass character instead of a tragic one.

I see a lot of people talking about the lore, so I wanna reply to the showcasing abilities idea. When Daisy first gets burned in the bedroom, that fireball and shape is very reminiscent of both Annie's q and w abilities. Her q throws a fireball, her w is a wide cone of flame. When the fire starts in the house after Daisy's death, the flames actually surround Annie. You can see it pretty clearly forming a circle around her. This is her e ability, which forms a shield of fire around her. It's literally her trying to find safety and protection with her power, trying to comfort herself and protect herself from the outside world. I find it really interesting that it's this ability that ends with her father's death, because the shield does damage to enemies who attack Annie in game. It's a fun, if tragic, nod to that effect, I think. As for her ultimate ability, it is indeed Tibbers growing to his large form. Annie summons him and he does a lot of big aoe damage and whatnot, taking his role as a guardian bear. I want to believe that during the scene in the river, when Daisy is holding on to Tibbers, the fire that shows up is actually Annie trying to summon Tibbers, or Tibbers trying to be summoned in order to extend Annie's reach. It very well could just be Annie losing control again, but I like to think that she was desperately trying to find a way to hold on, or do anything to help Daisy live. I don't know if this is confirmed or not, but I like to think that's what happened there. Thanks for doing this video, by the way! Annie: Origins is one of the most unique shorts Riot has made, and it was great to see your reaction to it.

Some speculations are maybe she sacrificed herself to save Annie's life from her sickness, that is why the next morning Annie is healthy again. And some people thinks it is her spirit that is trapped in the bear protecting Annie...

Annie can control fire. Her mother was a Noxian witch who passed away prior to this story. Annie can outright control fire, but Tibbers acts as a conduit and a manifestation of most of her power. Tibbers transforms into a giant flaming bear in game that you attack others with. Tibbers is Annie's signature ability. Love these reactions, keep it up!

@@IvanTeslenko I like the idea, but Annie and her family were beyond the Ironspike Mountains (Noxus territory near Freljord) while Ivern is from Ionia (altho he first was a human from Freljord, and now he is a spirit, idk if he is wandering around Runeterra or protecting Ionia). But what I'm certain about is that Ivern's golem was first and foremost a dying golem he decided to save with a new heart from a river pebble, which he named himself Daisy. Just a coincidence in my opinion.

Riot spent a LOT of time developing the process to animate this cinematic. They wanted it to emulate an effect they used previously only for short, hand-drawn loops, along with feeling like flickering fire. They have a dev post somewhere talking about how they had to create a new way to animate video for it basically, and their teams for things like this are usually pretty small.

The transformation of the plush into a monster (a bigger and more bear-like version of the doll) is Annie's ultimate. The new lore video is awesome but I loved the part in the old lore which said she just bound a shadow bear. Badass. "At the age of two, Annie miraculously ensorcelled a shadow bear - a ferocious denizen of the petrified forests outside the colony - turning it into her pet. To this day she keeps her bear Tibbers by her side, often keeping him spellbound as a stuffed doll to be carried like a child's toy. It does look like the places have their own progression of things and also, you do have DJ Sona whose music is described as being able to go into different dimensions.

The world of League of Legends is very vast. - Demacia is your standard medieval fantasy kingdom full of knights racist of mages (Lux and Garen come from here) and Noxus (Annie lives here) is their enemy in the same vein, "light and justice" versus "tyranny, power hunger and assassins". - Ionia is very close to nature, ninjas, balance and Kung Fu, still medieval, full of mages and vibrant colors. (Yasuo, the DJ in Giants, and Akali the rapper chick are from here) - Shurima is a desert where an Egyptian themed ruined and reborn empire (Amumu is from this area). No guns, a lot of sand magic, sun power, and curses. - Piltover (where the part with guns in "Warriors" happens) is the city of technological progress and order, so they have guns, cyborgs, and SWAT teams in "Awaken" - Zaun is the city of technological chaos, built mostly underground, under Piltover and next to it, full of toxic fumes, mad scientists and Frankenstein type mutants. They also have guns, grenades and so on ("Get Jinxed" shows pretty well how chaotic the city is) - Freljord is the North, with tribes, glaciers and ice mages (Ashe, the ice archer in "Legends Never Die", is a tribe chief here). The weapons here are bows, swords and axes - Bilgewater is a pirate island where they worship a Kraken god. These guys have cannons, bombs and guns - The Shadow Isles are an archipelago of nothing but ghosts and everything that should be dead but somehow isn't. They used to be called "The Blessed Isles" before their rejuvenation springs got reversed and killed everything. The most notable weapons from this area are a shovel and a lasso, but mostly just necromancy - Ixtal is a hidden city in the jungle, think Wakanda, same idea: very advanced technologically, no guns though, all elemental magic, close to nature and hiding from the outside world - Targon is literally this world's Mount Olympus: a huge mountain where three tribes (one worshipping the sun, another worshipping the moon and one of purely really strong humans) can become vessels for this world's Gods. The vessels are called Aspects. No guns, just spears, swords and lots of celestial magic Lastly, there's the void, which is another dimension that has breached into this one and just wants to devour ALL OF IT. Literally everything, living or not. Everything purple (like the little monsters in "Awaken" and Kai'sa's symbiot, her armor) are creatures of the void. The idea is that at the moment, the "actual" world is trying to fight against the void which is impossibly stronger... Also, the void is an entity and a realm at the same time.

The lore of League is kind of mix of everything from asian fantasy base to steam punk to celestial Gods. it depends on the region the stories are base in. there is Ionia where more asian themes are being presented with magic and stuff, pilt-over and zaun are steam punk base, Noxian and Damacia are more on the Europian medival, Shurima is base on Egyptian mythos, Bildge-water is a pirate base region where you'll see all the rouges and thieves hangout, Targon is base around the demi-Gods/Gods where they are called Aspects, Bundle city is a city base on small rat like creatures that has no define place, its said to be and invisible city that only the creatures can go in and out, shadow Ilse is an island base around the dead/undead, Void is base around another dimension... etc. you should try to see the lore of League its quite amazing how they handle each story.

I could be getting this wrong, but I believe that the teddy bear (Tibbers) is a race of shadow bears and the mother made a deal with a shadow bear to protect her daughter, Annie, and gave it to her as a gift. The mother later died, and the father remarried. The whole thing with Annie having a dark side is that she was born a mage but because her family doesn't live near any village, there was nobody to help Annie channel, nor control, her powers. So whenever she uses her magic, it's kinda instinctual/based of of her emotions, hence the ending scene. I, personally, believe that Tibbers, after being brought forth by Annie for the first time, taught her how to control and use her powers, while defending her. For a better look at these two, you should check out A Twist of Fate, but I do recommend you watch the rest of League's cinematics. Another good one is A New Dawn.

This trailer was riots transition of trying to go more animated. The whole trailer is 3D i think. To Riot this trailer was to check if the community accepts that. Yeah Annie is a bit up mentally. Lore wise, at the moment, she lures people away and kills them, to get their money, since she is now on her own now.

It's not the game that isn't going well, it's Blizzard altogether. They don't seem to care about their games and are in a big crisis after how bad Diablo Immortal and 4 were received by the community recently (plus I personnaly dislike them for copying Warhammer with Warcraft and 40K with Starcraft in all impunity, but it's pretty old topic and just my opinion). They're good at marketing, teasers, and making cinematics, that's for sure. I also hope for them that despite the non-originality of the name, Overwatch 2 will work, their coop events are fun so a full game about coop should be good!

I think something you should add to these videos, is when you're done watching a cinematic and you learn the characters for example: Annie. You should look up the characters biography on League and explore the lore on the video and compare it to the ideas and thoughts you formed during the cinematic. I thought it would be neat and I would personally enjoy seeing you read up the lore on the characters you learn watching these videos.

Well, first and foremost : - Great video, as usual ! I like it a lot. Like. a. lot. - Annie's teddybear, Tibbers turns into a bigger version of itself ( you can check on Google Images "Annie's Ultimate League of Legends" and they'll show you. - At the end of the video, the flower burning isn't any flower, it's a Daisy. Just like her step-sister's name. Which, if you think about it, adds to the symbolism of "Annie's fire consuming Daisy's life" if you want my opinion. - Annie's mother ( real mother I mean ) was a Witch named Amoline. While she was pregnant with Annie, she started netting the Teddybear ( Tibbers ) and, as she finished it, she felt the first contractions leading to Annie's birth ( kinda symbolic if you want my opinion ). And, one day, as Annie, her father and mother have been hit by a sickness, the lore describes Annie's state as "hit by a fiever so hot her mother couldn't even touch her" ( I think if refers to Annie's magic awakening or something ) so Amoline went out to get some cold water to heal her child, but never came back. So, Tibbers was the only memory she had left of her mother. That's why, whenever it's getting "taken away" from her, she inconsciously protects IT ( not herself ). - So yeah, it's not a "Guardian" as you said, more like, Annie is her mother's memory's gardian if that makes sense. - And finally, can you react to "Call of Power" from League of Legends ? It sets up the "main lore" of League, the Rune Wars, and the destruction it created and how Ryze ( the main character of the cinematic ) is doing everything he can to prevent another Rune War to start eventhough it kinda fucks him up magically.

The timeline of League is very complex... The oldest and lore-wise moost powerful creatures are hundreds and thousands of yeard old, while the youngest characters are just normal humans with only a couple of yeard or decades of age. That also means that the kinds of weapons they use depends on how old they are and also, which country or region they come from because technologies are not the same everywhere... Zhaun and Piltover are the most advanced regions, with all kinds of firearms, steampunk setting etc. And the lands like Targon or Shurima are really old fashioned and most of those characters just fight with the classic swords, spears or some special thematic weapons based on the background of a Champion... It really differs very much throughout all of the world of Runeterra.

annie has latent fire magic, as she is a child she can not control it in the trailer at least. the bear is used as a conduit for her powers, and as a familiar if summoned, as seen her magic activates in moments of strong emotion or stress, and to anwser further questions, magic in league is a force in runeterra, some people can tap into it like annie, different country's look differently towards it, such as in Demacia the place from fiddle's rework they see mages as huge treats as they have been the victims of them in the past while Noxus the invading force in awaken sees it as a strength and is desireable in they're absolute meritocracy. zaun and piltover are twin city's and the theater scene in awaken happens there as well as the green and yellow scene in warriors 2020, zaun was built into the depths as a sort of slum and piltover was build up to the sky, where the rich, talented and famous live, they seek improvement in every way such as biology and technology, so thats where those gatling guns came from, they see magic as a source of fuel. ionia is the land wich is invaded by noxus in awaken, a place where magic and live are ever bound to exist together, they practice the traditions of old. then you have shurima, an ancient empire which has recently in lore once again risen to the survice as they're emperor was resurected, they make they're home in the deserts on the south end of valoran the continent that leaguea takes place in,. then you have freljord, the icy north. where three tribes fight for dominace, they see magic as a tool for survival and war. further we have the shadow isle's. a land once blessed with life and magic, now desecrated by a curse to a land of horror and undead apparitions. most ghostly characters come from there, and once each year they can appear in different places on valoran in an event called the harrowing. also we have bilgewater, a place where all the pirates, smugglers and criminals make they're home. and lastly we have bandle city, a place beyond time and space where the people we call yordle's live, they take after the spirit of the places they go to and are heavily influenced by the people they follow, the only way to go there would be through a portal a yordle made himself

I'd have to disagree that her father did anything wrong. You can clearly see the entire roof comes down at the end of that scene just as he throws Annie clear. If he'd stopped they'd both be dead, so I feel like that was just some unnecessary nit-picking. Other than that, nice observations.
