I was assigned to the USS Wainwright as a Gunners Mate Missileman Second Class Petty Officer in October 1972 and departed the ship in August 1975 as a First Class GMM Petty Officer . I happened to see the Wainwright on a neighbor's television as I entered their home to visit. My neighbors happened to be away from the TV at the time so I passed right by to catch up with them in the kitchen. Had I not happened to catch a glimpse of the Wainwright on TV, I would have never thought to look for this historical video documentation.

I was discharged off of USS Forrestal June 10th in 76. Missed the fun in NY Harbor but watched from my parents house. Seen alot of old shipmates from the Weapons Dept. as well as Capt. J.J. Barth. CO of Forrestal........

My wife and I were aboard the Forrestal as guests of the then Secretary of the Navy Middendorf. Quite a VIP grouping of world celebrities. We sat behind Princess Grace of Monaco.
