Thanks for posting. We got Mohawk 28 years ago. To say he is on his last legs is an understatement. Our daughter was about 6 when we got him. She lives about 2 hours away via airplane. She came home for a visit and suggested we put this on for him. He acts like a just purchased baby again... I had watched another video by a bird expert. She said "love your bird, but don't spoil him or her". I call BS on that theory. Spoil him or her, the long life you get in return you won't ever regret!

I rescued an escaped white-faced cockatiel. He came to the right home. Hes much loved and has adjusted extremely well. The family named him Tofu. Hes still timid to try new things, but I attribute that to his age. I think hes about a year old. He gets lots of attention from our family of 4. Hes an absolute delight for us.

To clarify. Most all of the sounds this bird is making, are not what you will ever hear of (wild) Cockatiel flocks. The double whistle (at the end) is what you will hear from flocks. This bird does that sound but it is slightly different from normal, due to isolation. This is a tame bird. Male Cockatiels have a plain grey, unbarred tail Females have this yellow barring on the tail, as clearly showing on this bird. Yes it is a cute pet.

My cockatiel is new, very shy and scared. Most of the time slow moving and still but every-time he hears this video he just turns on and starts ravenously eating and get's a bit more active. He starts looking around for the other bird and chirps sometimes, normally he is practically mute. Don't know what it means.

They are not meant to be solitary. I had 3, now down to one. She's 22 yrs old now and that's why I play cockatiel videos for her to keep her company. They will still bond with you. If your cockatiel is still young consider getting another cockatiel . Because you can't be there 24/7 and they get lonely.

That's probably not a male. The coloration is wrong for both the face and tail. Males don't typically have muted, greyish color on their faces, and only females typically have banding like that. Both sexes are also capable of the range of sounds I'm hearing here.

I wonder why you say: "There was a sound when he flocking"? The bird was not flocking, he is alone! I wonder what actually is the point of this and why you don't show flocks of these birds in inland Australia where they occur in flocks sometimes of hundreds (but usually smaller groups). Along with flocks of hundreds or more of Budgerigahs and sometimes various other parrot species.
@maiaheiss29913 жыл бұрын
Because they are looking to KZbin for an alternative cash source until breeding. When people hold birds captive to benefit their own ego, they conveniently forget that birds live in the wild freely. This bird sounds distressed to me, hard to watch actually.
@philipveerman75263 жыл бұрын
@@maiaheiss2991 Well whatever. I don't know anything about the economic activities of the person who posted this. So I don't know how doing this, gives a cash source. I sure am not sending the person any of my money. All I know about is what Cockatiels look like and sound like in our native inland Australia, where they are very social. Yes, I also know that they do make a very cute pet, but that certainly is not their natural state. I also forget to mention that male Cockatiels have a yellow, not grey face.
