I owned one of these units, it was an upgrade from a Panasonic Ave5 and could actually do true compression and represented good value for money. I had an AB edit suite using 3 panasonic SVHS VCR’s, and switched from my Sony V5000 camcorder to a digital Panasonic 3 chip camcorder in 1997. I still have the camcorder, but everything else became redundant once computer editing came on stream

I had it in 1997, but unfortunately I sold it. Thank you for this memory and good continuation.

Used the MX-1 and Title Gen in high school for morning news videos. Then it would just scroll with school news all day on the closed circuit channel to all classes. Even had the chance to bring the whole system home and use it over the summer. Good Times!

Haha, no flash storage tech for the titler and controller yet, but plenty of battery-backed RAM!

I hope they used their own equipment to edit this video!

I still have all three units. Too bad I can't use them anymore, now that analog is dead.

I still have 2 titlemakers and a color corrector unit from Videonics but i never bought the Edit Suite. I was able to get frame accurate edits (just a cut, no transition) by using 2 decks from the same manufacturer and one remote control that could unpause both the playback and record decks at the same time. With Sony's VHS & SVHS VCRs i would backtrack 21 frames (i think, been a long time) from the frame i wanted an edit to start on and then 1 frame forward on the playback deck, then hit the pause button on the remote to start both playback and record machines at the same time. This worked when using a Sony VCR and Sony Camcorder too, as well as 2 JVC machines but the frame backtracking count was different for each combination of machines. That frame backtracking on the playback machine basically compensated for the delay between when you hit the pause button to start/resume recording and recording to tape actually started. The delay/frame count was always consistent between machines of the same format and manufacturer. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my MX-1 still works last year (have used it for its TBC to somewhat stabilize video captures) but the T-bar went flaky/glitchy maybe 5 or so years into owning it.

Just because analog video is obsolete doesn't mean you "can't use these anymore." Also, the titler and Edit Suite will work with the MX-Pro DV.
