@@perryphillips719 Didn't Alan Felcsh build Sprintcars? Or maybe he just built the engines, but whatever way round it was I certainly remembered that surname, "Felcsh."

Doug Suntrom was 72, the same number on his midget as well as the sedan he sponsored that I crewed on. And yes It was the ex Peter Denton car also driven by Garry Patterson. That car is still around in classic speedway after Peter restored it. And yes Suddenly still had the 361 Dodge, the L88 came a year or two later. That car is still around in running order as well

Great stuff these old movie clips mate, a blast from the past. I've met a lot of these blokes over the years, at various tracks. Brings back a lot of great memories and good times. Thanks for sharing Russ.

Suddenly. The car and its driver are legends in South Aussie speedway. The car still survives to this day. Sadly though we lost Bill Wigzell back in 2012 at the age of 82. This was the first of only 3 times since the championship (now the Australian Sprintcar Championship) was run in 1963 that a South Australian driver has won the title. Wigzell here, John Moyle in 1973 at Rowley Park, and Phil March who achieved the Speedcar/Sprintcar double in 1999 at Warrnambool having already won the Midget title at Speedway Park in 1986. March joined George Tatnell and was later joined by Robbie Farr as the only drivers to achieve the double.

Good old Sid Hopping, the Man responsible for running the famous "BATMOBILE" (who else remembers that Car?) And also the Man who bought us all arguably, the best Sprintcar Racing track of it's time, the great P.C.R, Parramatta City Raceway!! What a true visionary that Man was? But that "BATMOBILE" ... 🦇

Yes, I saw him at many shows at Liverpool. He even tried his hand at sedans and speedcars ...

@peterrunge5501 I grew up in Liverpool, but just off the Hume Highway near the Collingwood Hotel. I used to catch the special Olivieri's Bus out to Liverpool City Raceway, but most weekends I'd be getting a lift with my mates older brother in his "Shagin' Wagon," yeah, the old "Sandman" Holden Panelvan. Fark me! I knew that every time I was in the back with four or five of my other "young and dumb" mates, we were always sure to be getting stone off our guts on some of the Budda or Sincemelia that used to get around out on the way to the Speedway, at the Green Valley Hotel a.k.a, the "Green Valley Hilton." What a bloody rage cage that used to be!! This was back in the days after they'd put the bloody rotten asphalt over it, but just after Grantville, or Parramatta City Raceway was opened by old

@@L.P-j9z Wow! Do you remember that old, Super-modified Sprintcar that he used to run called "The BATMOBILE?" It had a small nose-wing (standard equipment for many years now, but real "stand-out" equipment for back then) a very "non-standard" (for any era) wing on the rear, as well as one on the lid of course. But the thing that really makes it a stand-out vehicle, was the two, well, "scoops" I suppose you would call them, one either side of the cockpit? It was THE strongest looking thing I think I ever saw on a racetrack anywhere. And it was sponsored by, you guessed it "Sid Hopping's Law Mowers." And it was that long ago, I think that they only had a five or six didget phone number! I know that he used it at the old Sydney Showground Speedway, but I don't remember if he ever put it on the "black-top" at Liverpool, once they changed their surface from dirt to asphalt. They changed back again a few years before the place finally closed, but I'd moved out of Liverpool and had kid's of my own by then. Life moved on. "All of my friends are getting married" I think that Skyhooks told me that. Not showing my age to much am I? Hahaha. See you at Eastern Creek!! Have a good one mate 🍺
