A series of videos exclusively obtained by NBC News show #AlecBaldwin handling a prop gun and interacting with crew members while filming scenes for '#Rust.' The footage was taken days before Baldwin's prop gun fired a live round of ammunition on set, killing cinematographer #HalynaHutchins.
The videos are among dozens that special prosecutors requested from Rust Movie Productions LLC in the spring and didn’t receive until October, according to a source familiar with the matter. NBC News hasn’t reviewed the rest of the videos.

The video that was being filmed when the cinematographer was shot was literally a "down the barrel" shot as the pistol fires it's blank round at the camera. Maybe the armorer should have done her job? Maybe the cinematographer could have moved out from behind the camera? Maybe ALL the safety on set shouldn't fall on an the shoulders of an actor (who follows direction) / producer (fancy industry word for "manager")? Baldwin shouldn't have been the only person with common sense and self preservation on a professional movie set.

This is all the proof they need! He had NO IDEA the gun was live. The armorer KNEW immediately what had happened. It was obvious by her reaction. She was probably using the gun during lunch.

He was able to start checking the gun again, in front of the armer, after she had told him that it had no bullets. And even so, that does not make him responsible for the situation, much less a criminal. Literally the one who had total and legal responsibility was the gunsmith. Not only did she not carry out the checks on the weapon, but she also declared the weapon: a cold weapon. He, like every day and everyone else, trusted the legally responsible person, he trusted his co-worker. It’s sad he had to go through all this but 100% the armorer on the sets fault, it is always 100% their job to make sure any and all weapons on any set are safe and stay safe, before anyone touches a firearm the armorer should check and double check it’s got blanks and confirm it and then only then hand it to the actor and the second the shot is done before anyone moves or does anything the armorer should retrieve the weapon and safe it, that’s just always how it should go no matter what the situation, they often use real firearms with blanks when not doing cgi, but most movies these days use CGI. The actor is not a firearms expert nor should they have to be, that’s exactly why they have a armorer who should be a certified firearms expert, actors are paid to act not to check a weapon for blanks.

This is how acting works. Have any of you watch movies with guns being in the picture? You point prop guns at people. They aren’t supposed to have live rounds.
@equusamans
@equusamans Ай бұрын
Actually, as an actor, camera man or director, they teach you to never point a prop gun directly at people. You’re supposed to aim next to the person. The camera will be set up in a way that it looks like you’re pointing the gun directly at the other actor, but actually you are not. If that is for any reason not possible, special precautions are made. such as using a stunt double wearing special protection and so on.

@@jikuo2701 I wasn't there obviously, but I bet they had some precautions made if they couldn't use the "don't point" method. Obviously, methods are evolving. Could be that they didn't even use any conventional prop guns with dummy rounds as they would add in the muzzle flash and sound in later. I quote: "But for a franchise filled with fight scenes and guns, every shot heard by audiences wasn't actually fired in real life; it was instead created by a team of sound designers and editors. "Chad is a proponent of never using real guns on the set," said Mark Stoeckinger, supervising sound editor. "So you'll never hear a gun sound from the set into the final mix because it doesn't sound anything like a gun, and it's something that's dramatically not interesting." Source: Mendoza, C. (2023): How the Sound of 'John Wick' Was Crafted Without Real Guns. Watch some Behind The Scenes of the Making of John Wick and you'll see that while Keanu Reeves is pointing guns at poeple, those guns are not loaded with anything. So, they took every percaution they could because they couldn't use the above mentioned method.

What happened to Alex is the gun literally "went off half cocked". Pulling back the hammer without completely latching the hammer to the trigger results in a situation where if the hammer should slip out from under the thumb, the hammer can strike the bullet with enough force without the trigger being pulled to cause the gun to fire. Yes, it can "go off half cocked". This is the situation that this little saying comes from. This is exactly what happened to Alex. But who allowed live ammo on the set? Hmmm.... The armorer? Alex properly hired the armorer to handle this stuff, and create a safe working environment. The armorer failed in this task. For Alex, aquit, aquit, aquit. The armorer is a lady who doesn't have a lot of money, Alex does. The lawyers are trying their best to pin this on Alex because Alex has money not because he did anything wrong. He didn't. Sorry lawyers, there's not much money to be had here. It has become all about the money, not the justice.

Only a replica blank firing prop should be on set, not a gun capable of firing live rounds, which they did use for fun outside of filming. That blank gun is still lethal but at close distances. YOU pull the trigger….YOU are responsible….unless you’re a rich actor.

Seems awfully worried about everyone's safety I don't think he's ever acted like this in any other movie. Seems a bit strange. Investigators are probably looking at behind the scenes of past films to see if it is a practiced behavior or a natural behavior that he's had for years.

For breaking basically every rule of firearm safety after failing to inspect the ammunition he was firing.
@vaati9364
@vaati9364 9 ай бұрын
@@no-sway3709that’s actually incorrect, he has a few paid employees to constantly check if the gun is loaded or not. “Hot” or “cold” gun. The reason he is in trouble is because he is a producer for the film, meaning he is financing the film which makes him the boss of everyone on set. In a way it’s the boss’s fault for not implementing complete safety standards or that he signed off on whatever standards they were using
@no-sway3709
@no-sway3709 9 ай бұрын
@vaati9364 wrong. He did not inspect the firearm before pointing it at a human and pulling the trigger. You cannot delegate that responsibility to someone else if you are the one pulling the trigger.
@vaati9364
@vaati9364 9 ай бұрын
@@no-sway3709 if what you say is true. Then a lot of Hollywood actors would be in the wrong then. So you can better understand the situation I would recommend looking up Hannah Gutierrez-Reed and David Halls and how the armorer modified the gun and how the assistant director inspected it
