Julie Andrews didn't get to sing much of "Edelweiss" in the film "Sound of Music", but she made up for it with this complete and lovely performance with full orchestra and in stereophonic sound!

i've never been so proud and thankful in my life. My name is Edelweiss and to be very honest, i used to be very embarrassed about my name. Maybe because some people pronounce it wrong or they make fun of it. But after hearing this song, i feel relief, Edelweiss is not a common name now a days and im content and happy to have a very lovely and unique name. I'm thankful. :)

She's actually 60 years old here. Without question the most talented artist that Britain has ever produced. Her voice has, quite naturally, lost much of its high end range here (although she compensates for that with excellent technique) but as a child she was a prodigy and in her 20's and 30's her voice was as close to perfect as it's possible to get. A brilliant dancer and actress and a genuinely nice person - which is all the more remarkable for someone so talented. In a word 'class'.

She's born in '35, so if the title is to be correct then she's actually 45-50 here

very talented and an inspiration but Britain has produced many other equally if not more talented vocalists. Freddie Mercury is up there for me, as well as Sir Elton John

TigerBunny The title is not correct. This is actually from 'Some Enchanted Evening: Celebrating Oscar Hammerstein II(6 Mar. 1995).

ivan pj I actually said 'the most talented artist that Britain ever produced' not vocalist. But as a vocalist I'd say that Mercury was possibly the best male voice but he's not better than Andrews. Try this; kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaWod5ang6Z5orc And Elton John ... really ?

That is exactly why we need to discover our talents as soon as we can and use them to our fullest. Julie discovered her given talent and she shared it with us. We are only given a certain amount of time to appreciate one another.

Really sad that she cant sing anymore, and i thing she was really proud of gaga when she sang it on the oscars :) GG to both, ppl remember how awsome she was and now ppl know that gaga is a true artist. Love those ppl saying she wanted to get attention with her outfits. And now she got even more attention by being normal

Leex 95. Julie Andrews had knots on her glottis and the doctor made a bad operation and destroyed them so today she can´t sing. This was in the early 90:s I think.

This is a beautiful little song and Julie Andrews does it marvelously. I thought she had sung it in the Sound of Music but apparently the kids sang it and the father. This song and the movie made a big impression on me as a child in 1963. We saw it in the theatre. When we went to Vienna, of course I bought a music box that plays Edelweiss.

Because that was the thing to sound of music, aside from the beautiful music and the lush scenery of Austria- Hungry. I love the character Christopher Plummer and how he showed a sad melancholy through steely resolve at knowing he would lose his homeland, that shit always makes me cry.
