It was clearly visible that many scenes were hapazardly edited and I wondered how this happened in a Vetrimaran film but then he said there is literally an one hour extended version, so I guess only after seeing that version the film will be fulfilled, so it's best to view the film after it releases in OTT

Regarding amudhan's character arc. He has always been a person who waits for the right opportunity. This was shown when he says to kumaresan that "Ella policekaaranukum oru vaaipu kedaikum..andha vaaipukaga kaathu irukanum nu" . Amudhan should've thought that capturing perumal was his opportunity to show his valour and gain what he has been waiting for. I think vetrimaran wanted show the grey side of human beings saying atlast we're all human beings and once a person gets unlimited power no matter what's their background or what they've gone through. There'd be people who just do what they want without being empathetic. (There are also people who're empathetic like that good cop)

PLEASE TAKE TIME TO UPLOAD THIS KIND OF VIDEO. The problems I found in this discussion 1. You guys didn't address censor cuts made by CBFC, which, in my sense, literally downplayed the film. 2. Amuthan showed a shut eye towards the murder of the civilian misfire and police in the watch tower. After he was moved by which OC(chettan) offer to give the promotion and recognition. This convinced me his move in part 2 3. It was kind of hypocrite. As a creator, like you treated this film harshly, in an aesthetical sense, but political sense, it had amazing political philosophies. In your sense you should have treated kottukaali in same way.

Vetrimaran got carried away with the success and the overhyped image. This movie has so many flaws from writing to execution particularly, dubbing, zig zag editing and endless voice over. If this kind of mistakes made by any other directors , he would have been trashed and movie would be a disaster. 2-3 movies like this Vetrimaran will become once upon a time there was a great director.

Amudhan character arc at last seems to nullify the politics conveyed. It feels that irrespective of the background and turmoil one experienced, when he gets abundant power and development in his life, he turns into just another human! If it had been the same arc as in Asuran, where D says that get developed but don't do what they did to you! This aspect of Amudhan is nullified and missing. The final could have been in such a way that, Amudhan has empathy for VJS and makkal padai, but out of obligation in the higher system he needs to do the point blank, rather than for promotion and post.

In my pov , Amuthan transition is very crucial in the film bcoz there are two justification. One is Amuthan need to be an OC , to prove his community, to be in authority for his people in future,Secondly Amuthan changed his mind , forgot his moral when offered an higher post. Vetri sir let this to the audience I think. Kumaresan's transition at the end was the only real oppressed man turned his hat down and walked in the path of vathiyar.
