As one who loves sweeter Germanic languages like Low Saxon dialects, Frisian, Yiddish, etc this was a delicacy! I know this is not one of the real 'dialects' from Austria but it's so sweet and different in practice that if feels indeed to be another 'language'. Just overwhelmingly charming and soft. Love it! Danke schön, Leute!

The Austrian guy in the video called Mathias has no Viennese accent, at all! I know this for sure, because I´m born and raised in Vienna and my family lived in Vienna for generations! He speaks with an Upper-Austrian (=Oberösterreich) accent! Austria is parted in 9 federal-states, and every one of them has it´s own accent, but there are also multiple little variations of every single accent in every federal-state, as well. The accent is for austrians (but also for germans, as well) part of the personal identity. By hearing someone speak I (and every Austrian) know exactly from which part of the country he comes from!

I love how the German text reads 'bisschen' while the Viennese gal says 'bissel'. Bissel is a great example of a Viennese word! I can't believe nobody mentioned Käsekrainer- super Viennese food with a very Viennese (and gross sounding) way to order it.
@MrHyde8010 жыл бұрын
I would have never noticed that. Thanks
@arktomorphos9 жыл бұрын
MrHyde80 The gross way to order it would be "Eitrige mit Bugl" which means a puss-filled sausage (referring to the molten cheese inside the sausage) with a hump (refering to the end of a loaf of bread.
