Just to let you know, you were correct with the VC alert movement (2 movement points to leave a target hex, +1 movement point due to Interdiction counter and a 1 point cost to move into cultivated terrain) the is moves the VC counter to adjacent hex, then you were correct with then 1 point move into cultivated terrain with a +1 movement point to leave the adjacent ZOC for the 6 points from the Alert roll.

Don't you get pursuit movement after the VC did their evade, or is that only if a VC is still adjacent after the alert move?

No. pursuit happens after the first round of combat (actual contact and combat with the enemy). As the VC evaded the operation, no pursuit happens (the US received bad intel, no VC in the area). If the VC were still adjacent to US units, a round of combat would occur. If the VC survived the attack they would be able to make a retreat (this is on their counter movement rate - not an alert move) and the US would then be able to pursue (using their pursuit rate on their counter and the pursuit modifier from the combat chart dependent on the combat roll.)
