I'm sorry I have not watched the Philippines video where you tried the mooncake yet. If you want to try it here, you can search Kinh Do Bakery, Như Lan Bakery (the most famous in Sai Gon), etc. There are 2 main kinds of mooncakes: savoury and sweet, and sweet including mungbean, red bean, lotus seed, etc. And recently, there has been more modern favour (strawberry, choco mint, passion fruit). For me, personally, the sweet mooncake is good everywhere, however, the savoury can only be good in the northern style. If you have the time to come to VN in the mid-autumn festival (this year, 2023, is Sep 29th), if you come around this time, the start of the Sep, you will see mooncakes everywhere on the street, really fun for me, personally. Cheers!

It's pork floss . In Vietnamese is Thit Cha Bong in South VN or Ruoc in North VN . Now it's not the season for Moon Cakes yet . You can find them only during the Full Moon or Mid-Autumn festival ( Trung Thu on the 8th month of the lunar calendar or September on the western calendar ) . That underground market used to be a pretty cool place for shopping with shops , grocery stores and a food court . But because of the Covid a lot of stores were closed and have never been reopened so the whole place is now running down .

Mooncakes are seasonal item usually sold around the mid-autumm festival in Vietnam in September, so you might have a hard time finding it now.

Go to TÂN ĐỊNH market, near the pink church. Opposite that market is a big bakery branded NHƯ LAN. I believe it sells mooncakes all year round. But don't expect the cakes to taste incredible at this time of the year, though I think the mooncakes they sell are freshly made.

Great negotiation on the Nike shorts! Those would probably be 30 dollars in the US. 🤑 Also, I want melon cake now… did you eat the flowers?

Probably cost more than 30 bucks, everything in America is expensive these days. A Lacoste polo use to cost only 50-60 bucks, but now it’s like a 100 for a polo.

Moon cakes are made during Moon Festival in September, that's when temporary stalls are setting up all over the city along with the brand name bakeries. You can get cheaply made 20k to 200k to 2 million moon cakes depends on the ingredients.

You see from Thailand, Philippines and now Vietnam most of the people you have encountered are nice to foreigners (tourist). You are able to film and walk around not worrying about being harassed. Now try the same thing here in america as you did in the last three countries. 100 percent it would not be the same pleasant time. Trust me I lived in america for the past 23 years in a nice area (Orlando,FL) people here in general are just assholes. Americans don’t treat tourists or foreigners nice. If your were a southeast Asian vlogger doing the same thing you are doing there in Asia as in america he would have been told by Americans to go back to there country. Not everyone here in the states are assholes and Prejudice but the majority are.

This guy really know how to bargain, uh?! From 7.50 down to 4.00 dollars. Now 2023 in United States 4.00 bucks can’t even buy a butter croissant. It’s like 4.23 cents or more. Now it’s got a Nike short for 4 damn bucks. Nice!

I'm kind of a sucker when it comes to allowing people to make money. I don't see the point in talking people down on their prices when they own their own shop and are just trying to make money. Why not allow them to make a little money from your purchase? We have it so good in this country and I just like to share. I'm not saying you're greedy or anything. I hope I'm not hurting your feelings.

Haggling is expected in many countries around the world, it's just the way they function. Even locals are expected to bargain. The shopkeeper's opening offer will be an over-inflated price, although that price will often be based on what they think they can get away with by judging the customer. Trust me, they will never drop so low that they don't still make a decent profit. I travel to Morocco a lot, and unless you go into a "fixed price" shop, you will be expected to bargain. A general rule of thumb there is that you will likely end up paying a third of the opening offer if you know how to bargain. They do of course often make a lot more from tourists for whom haggling is not normal behaviour and who don't know how to "play the game". In those situations, the shopkeepers are generally laughing all the way to the bank.

The food as well as the society could entice more tourists to Vietnam if the people stopped throwing garbage everywhere and kept the city and the streets neat and clean. As now, it’s a third world slum.
@Flipodahippo
@Flipodahippo Жыл бұрын
Vietnam is actually not a third world country, a 3rd world country would be like Zimbabwe. It’s considered a developing country and it’s one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Vietnam is better than all of the countries in Eastern Europe. Btw third world is an outdated term and you should educated yourself before making a comment.
