There is a chance. We have compulsory military services for 2 years applicable to all men from 18 to 27 (women is optional) in SRoV, the only exception is when they are in university or have a job.

nato weapon is too expensive. mass equipment is better than luxury weaponry. This ideal is proven in ww2 and all the conflict in cold war. Sometime in the future when the number of armament hit the limit supply. better armament can be bought and let those older sit in preserve warhouse. But now number is better. Not to mention that we cant decide if NATO weapon is better or not.

The only kind of submarines that we operate are nuclear powered and we aren’t going to sell them to you so you can resell to the Chinese in order for them to copy our designs. The only countries that we share our submarine technologies with are the UK and now Australia. Moreover, you can’t afford them and have no clue how to run them anyway

Your analysis is correct. Despite numerous improvements and increases in military spending, Vietnam still has a very weak Air Force and Naval Power to protect itself from China.

Compared to China, Vietnam truly loses militarily. But the important thing is the fighting ability, the Vietnamese army is good at fighting and in the 19th century they defeated 4 out of 5 permanent members of the United Nations Security Council including the US, China, UK and France.

Vietnam's Kilo-class subs are not a factor for PLAN because they have advanced Kilos also. In particular, I would say the nuclear-powered Type-93A Shang-class would be more than a match for the Kilos since they are roughly equivalent to the Los Angeles-class subs from the USN.

Large subs are more likely designed to pose threads to land and surface targets. In a sub vs sub battle (which wont happen), small sub have the advantage.

@TheMilpitasguy Not so as far as Kilo subs are concern. The Kilo subs built for Vietnam are different and more advanced and efficient than the old Kilo subs sold to China. Aside better sensors and other attributes, they have a unique feature known as auxiliary pump jet outlets in the rear for super quiet cruising. Only subs built for Russia and Vietnam have this feature.

Shang class subs are more inline with the old Ohio class. But Shang class subs are much noisier. China doesn’t have any diesel electric submarines that are more modern than the 6 acquired by Vietnam. However, they have a great many of them, so the Vietnamese would eventually get overwhelmed

​@@sweetpotato3910:v iirc Vietnam used downgraded version canons from the USSR to shoot American's B52 plane which flied higher than the radar can detect at that time. and eventhough the Khmer Rouge supported by Chinese, America, and most of the UN at the time. Vietnamese drove Khmer Rouge out of Cambodians. So you can't say for sure about those downgrade weapons. There no point of having high level equipments but don't know how to use them. Beside as the video said Vietnamese demonstrate their power to protect their country. Paracel Islands belong to Vietnam only confirmed in France's map about Indochina. The UN hasn't said anything yet so Vietnamese just try to protect the islands they're currently occupied and is waiting for UN's answers. Meanwhile Chinese illegally occupied new islands regardless UN is a dangerous action.
