Produced, Edited, and Filmed by David Annarino.
Video highlighted by KZbin several times Veteran's Day.
Vietnam veterans were stereotyped and demonized to such a great extent that even the widows of deceased servicemen received late-night harassing phone calls. It has been said by some that at no point in our country's history have our veterans been hurt more by our own countrymen than by the enemy. For many vets, the homecoming was often a powerful first encounter that made their adjustment to civilian society more difficult. This is the story of a Kentucky base that felt it was time to give these veterans the welcome home they never received. Produced, shot and edited by Dave Annarino.

WE are SO SORRY for the bad behavior of a few Americans -- there were so many of us who hated that and did NOT feel (nor act) the same way. (WAR IS HELL like Gen. Sherman said, but there are times when we must help our allies fight to keep our own America free and allow us to think freely and express what we wish without threat of harm. That is our America -- let's keep it that way!) It does not matter what the reason for war is or was, where it was or is even now, our brave young men (including women, today) fight for the freedom of our (YOURS AND MY) Country, laid down their lives for us and our Country, are still doing that, and NOTHING can ever minimize that! We thank them, respect and honor them, always have and always will.

And maybe that's the reason he doesn't feel the wounds amended because it's not a real apology. Yes many soldiers did horrid things during Vietnam, and many of them contrary to popular belief were severely punished for it.Also American soldiers got blamed for a lot of things that they weren't responsible for either, like that fire bombing picture with the little girl running away. Yeah that was the SK but America got blamed for it. My grandfather told me stories of his service ( he didn't like too but I always got him drunk first.) His unit saved an entire village from the VC who were decapitating women who's husbands aided the Americans. War is NOT black and white!

Anders You know what's sad though. If the U.S hadn't tried to help the Muslims have a "government", Isis wouldn't exist. We tried to teach them how to have democracy and it split up the Suni and Shite Muslims. So in short, Isis existence is Americas fault. we always step in trying to teach proper government and something fucks up.

*** Sgt WarDaddy98 *** But I believe that's more down to the US' failure to moderate things after the war, they left the country while the supporters of the fallen governments' supporters took control of the country. I think the US are right in trying to give everyone human rights and democracy no matter where they're born, they just need to dedicate resources for a longer period of time than the war, perhaps a small occupation to ensure the country transitions smoothly.

My father would take me to the VA in Memphis, TN with him when I was a kid and I would sit for hours and listen to stories about Korea and Vietnam from all kinds of veterans that were there for all kinds of reasons. Many of the stories were nightmare fuel because my father told them to be honest, not to sugar coat it and they didn't, but I knew after meeting and talking to those people that I had to become one of them and when I graduated from Marine Corps boot camp in the beginning of 2002 my father recorded the ceremony and took it back to the VA to show it off.

They grew up in that country and grew up through the rise of the Nazi party, they didn't know the true evil that was going on. Those regular German soldiers just wanted to follow orders and feel proud for serving their country, not get grouped with the rest of the filth of the Nazi party.

Sk8mattGaming Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.

When I was in Vietnam in 1967 I didn't dream things would play out like the way they have. I felt the rejection at first and was saddened by it But in the last few years we have been looked upon in a different light. What amazed me was the construction of the Vietnam memorial.

As a daughter of a vietnam war veteran, I have always had the up most respect for those who have fought for our country. It makes me incredibly sad to know that people who have risked their lives for our country got disrespected. When my father returned from vietnam he was spit on by strangers. It makes me happy to see a video like this that shows the deserving welcoming that the veterans and my father should of had.

Yeha, the "peaceful hipies" ... Suckers. They should blame the government not the soldiers. I HARDLY doubt that one of this douchebags would have the courage to spit in the face of the comunist soldiers who start to raid South Vietnam ( or before in SOuth Korea, Same shit happened). its easy to spit in a firnedly person, but they dont have balls to do that against a true enemy.

Couldnt Beat? HA HA Denial Milan. It was possible for The United States to win the War However doing so could of sparked WW3 since China also Helped North Vietnam. The United States did not bomb Supply lines nor bomb Aircraft bases or even bring Heavily armored tanks into the Region, Why? Because it would Escalate the war into a Bigger War and Eventually something Unprecedented.

I don’t remember much about the Vietnam War except for how our troops were treated when they came home & my Mama sitting in front of the tv every day crying because a lot of her friends were over there. And right there & then I decided that I would thank each & every Soldier that I seen for their service & sacrifices for my freedom. Since the age of 7 I am not going to try to tell how many I have welcomed home as I’ve been doing that for 50 years now. I have had the honor of welcoming home some of our Vietnam Veterans home. I’ll never forget my 1st one home, I went to make a payment for my niece in Kingsland, Ga. & as I was leaving a truck was pulling in. It was an older gentleman & he had a Vietnam Veteran sticker in his back glass. I threw my car into reverse. I parked my car & waited for him to get out of his truck, I walked up to him & said “ Excuse me as I extended my hand & said I just wanted to tell you thank you for my freedom & welcome home” He started crying & I did too as I wrapped my arms around him & it was one of those hugs you feel deep down in your soul & he said “ Thank you so very much, you are the only person that has ever told me that” & I absolutely lost it. I love you all & I say with so much love & gratitude THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE & SACRIFICES THAT YOU HAVE MADE FOR ME & MY FAMILY. GOD BLESS YOU ALL 🙏🇺🇸❤️🙏🇺🇸🤍🙏🇺🇸💙🙏

My best friend served two tours in Vietnam as a Special Forces specialist. He was also in Laos and Cambodia. After deplaning in San Francisco he was greeted by two government CIA employees asking if he’d be interested in continuing what he was good at. He told them no thanks “I’m tired of killing”. His service records were sealed for the next 20 years. That alone speaks for itself of what he did there. Over the years of our friendship we talked about his time there and it’s no wonder why many of our troops suffer from PDST. I always liked the saying “Hate the War Love the Warriors “ Today I presently am involved in 3 separate groups supporting our Veterans. They all deserve our respect and support. I thank them all for their services to the great County we are blessed to live in.

@DonB.-Mulefivefive
@DonB.-Mulefivefive 5 жыл бұрын
@tony 61Maybe if you'd done just a little bit of reading you'd find out one or two things. The Hmong, were persecuted in their own country. Much like the Montyards were in Vietnam. The dinks, considered the 'yards , to be less than human and did every thing they could to exterminate them. Same thing went on with the Hmong. The NVA and the VC were widely known to kill " their own" when it worked in their favor. Just a little bit of reading would open your eyes to a whole new set of issues regarding this .
@DonB.-Mulefivefive
@DonB.-Mulefivefive 5 жыл бұрын
@tony 61If you're line of thought processes will allow you some perspective of the term / definition of 'solider' , it simply wouldn't matter if the gentleman in question were NVA VC or Khmer Rouge , officer or enlisted now would it? My question to you is simple : Did you serve during that time era in a theatre of combat? It's a one word answer/response. Yes you did or, no you didn't. If no then , what would it matter if he was or wasn't NVA or VC ? Fact and point of the matter is fairly straight forward. A solider does what they do in the overall name and theme of serving their own respective countries. We all, those who served, did what we did in order to survive. This person with whom you are attempting to engage with, in order for you to gain some perspective as to whether or not he was cadre or enlisted, NVA or VC, also known as PLA , may not decide to share that with you as in related terms of what they did to their own , or not. Unless you're really making any effort at all to do the research and the associated leg work with the question, then it's a moot point overall. It simply doesn't make any difference if he was NVA, VC, PLA, ARVN, or US...a solider is still, a solider, regardless of uniform distinction.
@DonB.-Mulefivefive
@DonB.-Mulefivefive 5 жыл бұрын
@ Tony 61 : In addition, if you've been doing any reading/research in this at all, and took the words of his at face value, and bearing in mind that he made his statement of " Respect from Vietnam", that may indicate he may have served? , leaving room for doubt, or he may not have. If he did serve Vietnam, then the chances are, he's a seasoned veteran on his side of the line. If he didn't serve, he probably got pretty well indoctrinated with the past and current regimens education camps or over all view point of the war as a whole. So my point to you is straight forward. It hardly matter who he served with or in, now does it? did you your self serve Tony? Doesn't sound like it.

My grandfather passed away in May 2015. He served in Vietnam war. The first time I learned about it in school, I asked him if he was there, he said yes and I gave him a hug and told him thank you for his service. Thank you for coming home. That was one in few times I ever sow a tear from my grandfathers eyes. I miss him a lot. I miss the stories about his life and what he went through. But what I miss the most is his voice and his touch. He was so gentle with me, my little siblings and my younger cousins.
