Comments from a former recon marine I graduated from Paris island in 1965 After that, I went to infantry training regiment at camp geiger in North Carolina for basic combat training, advanced combat training, and special weapons training. Then I went on to a recon battalion Here is a description of the gear from that time first of all, the soft hat was called a cover. You guys called it a eight pointer I never heard that term. The helmet came with the liner and a chin strap, the cover came later the T-shirt was white green t shirts came later after they discovered the white t-shirts were easy to see in the dark. All canteens were metal the plastic canteens came later I only had an M14. Never saw an M16 until much later in my enlistment. All we saw in it was it is 22 no power The pack was both a knapsack and a haversack no suspenders we carried a shelter half like you mentioned a poncho and several Bandoliers We also carry a rubber sleeping pad which was called a rubber lady and a very thin sleeping bag it would be interesting to see if you could get your hands on clay more bandiliers or bandoliers for an m-79 I carried one often along with a 1911 I hope this helps. My voice recorder wasn't working well so it is mixed up

We did not use pack boards for ordinary packs, only used when we had PRC 10's, when we went to the PRC 25's, they came with a different pack design, I don't remember the 60 MM, ammo humpers using them, so, you've got this thing wrong. We didn't wear T-shirts, or skivvies.

Marines, we go harder to do the same jobs, with 1/5th the manpower, 1/3 the logistics and duece gear that our fathers ran before us....

Your "jungle sling", should have a blanket roll strap in the slot between the barrel and gas plug, then have the sling carry the rifle in a horizontal position with the barrel pointed straight ahead.

The current issue hygiene bag is the same shape and size as the VN one, its just in coyote brown and a different material. Most people, myself included, stowe it in our pack when we go to the field.

I looked at your one video you got a lot of videos, that’s cool, and I’m no expert but it doesn’t look to bad you got the shirt, suspenders, helmet, and you can use the m60 pouches to hold any ammo really and the canteen pouch can hold ammo too, all you need is the belt a butt pack and ya the universal pouches, I can get them for 5 $ at my military surplus store, right now you could pass for a resupply guy/ ammo guy, I just made some Vietnam videos but mines more late war, I mostly do shooting videos

@AVPalmerERY2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the M61 Pistol Belt. They're getting kind of rare but theres a video on youtube on how to make one with an M36 Pistol Belt.
