I am a Viet Nam era vet. I was in the Navy from 1964 to1970 aboard submarines and was never in country but have the highest respect for those who were. I had 4 of my High School friend there. A local Vets group I attend has a woman who spent two years in Viet Nam as a Dough Nut Dollie. She is Hawaiian and was not treated very nice as many thought she was a local until she would tell them off in very "fluent" American. She has become a good friend. Hand Salute to ALL VETS!!!

I served with a combat unit in Vietnam. Every time one of our guys was wounded they were medevaced to an Army Hospital. When we went to visit them we got to see the great work these nurses had done. Thank you and welcome home.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I am of the Vietnam generation, had a draft card but also got a letter saying they were stopping the draft and I didn't have to report so I didn't. Wound up going in a few years later and worked with many Nam vets one guy was even Korea & Nam. They were all a great group of people and I feel privileged to have worked with them and learned from them. I have the highest respect for all our military doctors, nurses, medics, corpsman they are a special group of life savers. At this point I guess all I can say is a very, very, very, long overdue WELCOME HOME to all our Nam vets especially our Nurses, Doc's etc and thanks for a job well done under the most difficult situations. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!

I think the worst thing about the Vietnam war was how the vets were treated, ALL the vets. All I can say to this video is this: welcome home, dear. Thank you for all you have done and endured. To the politicians I say: Shame on you!!!! How can you do this to these fine folks, and then turn around and ask our kids to do the same thing!? It makes me happy to see when our vets get the recognition they deserve. Bless this woman, this angel of mercy!

❤IT. I was also given the opportunity play in the current game in 68/69 and also the opportunity stay in an American hospital twice both were terrific. The nurses, male or female were incredible folks. The ward I was in had been hit by a dink rocket that hit the nurse’s station near the center of the ward. Tough duty! Thanks again

God bless you Nurse Carlson. I served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army in 1969 at age 20. I was severely wounded near the Cambodian border on December 14, 1969 by rocket or mortar fire, so I understand how you felt when you mentioned being under attack. I remember during my 8 months in army hospitals, a nurse named Diane. Some people call us Vietnam vets, 'heroes' for fighting in 'Nam, but to me you nurses are the 'true' heroes. We soldiers were trained to take lives, and you nurses were trained to save lives, and you did one heck of a great job. If not for women like Nurse Diane Carlson I wouldn't be here today in 2024 typing this message at age 75. Again, God bless you and your family, and thank you for your service.

WE Vietnam Vets should never forget the sacrifice of all the Medical Personnel because the lives of many were saved by them. We should also be grateful to the less mentioned RED CROSS GIRLS, that risked their lives to volunteer to bring hope ,joy , laughter and the much needed Kool Aid to the troops throughout Vietnam . We are in debt with all of you because you are real HEROES.

The biggest salute that comes from the center of the heart on behalf of all Army vets. We love all you medical MOS, especially the combat ones. What people don't realize is that they suffer PTSD from what they eyewitness from taking care of their patients. And she's been dealing with it on her own as i have.

200,000 Vietnam veterans finally got a chance to proudly display their colors during the Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home parade on June 13, 1986, in Chicago. That of course was many years after we returned and for some too late to heal the hurt. If no one has said it yet - then Welcome Home!

I am glad to see that she got the "welcome home" she deserved. . .but I feel that all this "thank you for your service", that we are seeing being given to Vietnam and Vietnam-era vets is a bit hollow as we remember the welcome we received. . .it is hard to forget how we were treated and these "thank you's" can't erase that memory. . .bitter, yes. . .I am glad to see those who recently fought being treated so much better than we were, but please, save your "thank you for your service" for them. . .USMC '68-'72 Semper fi

My father was a Combat Medic in World War 2. There were some things that he told me, but many that he did not. I can say that being a Combat Medic did affect him in one way or another until the day that he died. In some ways it can be worse than PTSD.
