Former army 15 Tango UH60 crew chief here this particular mission is still talked about by pilots or at least it was in the late '80s early '90s when I was in Huey Pilots did some of the bravest most insane flying to pull troops out of hot Lz'sThe dust off pilot from Medevac they didThings that would be considered almost an act of God to get in and out of some of the hot spots that they were in to get there brothers From one to anotherThank you for your service to our country and humanity

@@terrencejackson4587 nice my time in was a love hate relationship loved my job and most of the people I served with. Hated the army bullshit. step dad is a retired major and I was sick of military life by the time I was 12. Lol

@@robertgutheridge9672 I get that. I love the US Army. I hate that it’s become about sexual assault and harassment with a keen eye to prosecute these behaviors. Less training and emphasis on your war time function. The next war; America will proficient at gender identification and pronouns addressing. Army aviation was always fulfilling, until it wasn’t. Paperwork per flight hour or 15-6 for actions during operations. Hoover the fun, exhilaration and honor of a very noble and rewarding career.

My hooch buddy in the field 1st Cavalry 1967-68 11B … came up with this stray puppy 🐶… We couldn’t keep him with us in the field so he gave it to his warrant officer high school college buddy. I saw that dog in a KZbin video once … think the chopper crew was at Camp Evans …

Sounds like the thick jungle was an actually a saving grace. If they would have had a nice open LZ to land, they would have been THE target.

How about the weapon ? It was probably an M16 . The military version was semi automatic or automatic by the flip of a switch. The AR 15 is the weapon available back in the US for civilian purchase. The AR 15 is only semi automatic where as the M 16 is fully automatic or semi automatic.

1st Cavalry 11B 1967-68 … I got my Air Medal … I’ve e been shot in a Huey and hit several times … Jumped out of a Huey once April 19th, 1968 air assaulting into the A Shau Valley… shit our chopper was taking AK47 rounds … so I jumped … how high… I don’t know, but I hit the ground so hard it loosened my bottom four teeth in the front when I hit the ground … the Hamilton wrist watch I got for 8th grade graduation never tic tocked again … the helicopter 🚁 I assume made it back to Camp Evans… Yeah … I’ve been shot to shit several times while going in on air assaults … I was in Bong Song pre TET when the 1st Cobras showed up on LZ English … I used to watch those Chopper pilots put them through their paces … I think the 229th chopper guys were our support … they got the NVA off my ass more than once and saved my butt …I even helped medevac a downed chopper crew … the shit I’ve seen …

All of this technology and everything that they're trying to lay out about how Vietnam was this in Vietnam was that when all it really was was an industrial investment and cough all kinds of young American life because the industrial complex wanted to sell all those helicopters and planes and guns and weapons and all the other things at the same time when Johnson Brown and root was in Vietnam making all that big money over there where they were doing all the roads and infrastructure where gigantic construction company from Texas owned by Johnson the president of the United States he milked like an old cow and now what are we looking at all these collateral damage people damaged by agent orange and everything else who are psychologically😊 and destroyed all of the young families in the United States and change the way America is because of the one thing that's constant with the US government and that is it is corrupt from the day it was made until the day daddy died and it will die
