I’m Australian born, 48 years old and have lived here all my life, and racist Australians have the cheek to tell me I’m a Sri Lankan just because ONE of my parents is from there and lived there 60 years ago. Non whites don’t do that. Other cultures genuinely want to know, but racists do it to wrongly tell you that ‘you look different so you’re not one of us’.

Wow man this is making me so proud. Im in Sydney , my parents just got back from 3 weeks in Na Trang & Saigon 2 days ago ... My mum has travelled lots but she came home beaming about the situation in Vietnam. Particularly keeps saying the Vietnamese men are the most respectful, most polite and helpful people she comes across wherever she is .... You are a lovely young man.

Australia has lots of laws protecting our fresh produce - growing, gathering, storage and cooking - making everything safe to eat and because our standards are so high, the competition is strong and leads to better and better restaurants.

I was in june this year in Sidney. Banh mi in Sidney is the best. Better than in Houston. And the people in shop in Sidney are more friendlier than vietnamese in Houston. Well done the people in Sidney

Wow! I grew up near bankstown and I never new to go eat Hu Tieu at that restaurant you went to. Loved this content! To the comment above about how Vietnamese are always comparing food 😂 WELL, I grew up amongst all this good Vietnamese food. And then I went abroad to several places and missed it so much. I’m still here in the US and maybe it’s because I haven’t lived by the big viet communities, but I’m always comparing it against Cabramatta as a standard. The Banh mis aka pork rolls are incomparable!

I’ll have to go to Australia for the Vietnamese food. I was mainly born in Cali (my mom’s side of the family is mainly based in Saigon and Nha Trang) and often visit Bolsa/Westminster aka the biggest little Saigon of the country which has the highest standard of delicious Vietnamese food in the U.S.

To be totally honest, it’s not just Vietnamese food which is better in Australia. ALL FOOD in Australia is better than its American equivalent. In my opinion it’s because, although we do ‘adapt’ cuisines, we do not try to completely reinvent them in the way America does. We actually embrace the differences in the food rather than try to homogenise it.

And there is no possible way ‘Merica could ever have more Vietnamese immigrants than Australia. I’m also from Little Saigon OC and visited Melbourne for my husband’s family but didn’t find the pho impressive. It’s better than Bay Area pho but not better than OC pho. Maybe I’ll give it a second try.

The place I ate in Melbourne was compariable to oc pho but pho an in bankstown was better in terms of beef quality and broth. It was perfect for me.
