Thanks for sharing this recipe. In old time people in Hong Kong also made the same donuts but a bit thicker. Recent 20 years, no one made it anymore.

Oh? Why is that?
@leetomlee72653 жыл бұрын
@@AimeesCooking Probably a lot of different food from different countries have been introduced in Hong Kong. On the of that, properties prices in hong kong have been increased dramatically. This donut is labor intensive and cannot ask for much selling price when the commercial rents have been increasing over those years.

The water is part of the liquid measurement for the recipe. I would recommend to proof the instant yeast anyways (though I know it’s not needed) so that it will help rise faster and to know for sure if it’s still active.

I’ve made this recipe 3 times now. I haven’t done it without the water but my yeast is for sure instant. Is your hand oiled when you’re demonstrating the dough consistency and when you make it into a ball? The dough always looks like it could be ready but will always stick to my hands when I touch it and try to do the stretch test. In the video, your dough looks so perfect and non sticky. Yum! I love eating those things...not to sweet and delicious. I wonder why no one every makes them pandan or with other flavors? Or since they look like pita bread after they are fried, stuff them with some kind of bean paste like mung bean with coconuts flakes and then sprinkle on that heavenly combo of ground peanuts, sesame seeds, salt, sugar...you know what I mean. I know the original is amazing, but surely some Vietnamese culinary genius has experimented? :)
