Quán Miến lươn Thủy Lợi- A popular noodle in Hanoi. This place is famous for plump eel and lots of variety. I loved all the options but for me, nothing beats that high heat wok flavor, with big pieces of fried and crunch eel.

Gà Tần Bà Dậu- Something a little different, a medicinal chicken dish that isn’t for everybody. I found the medicinal taste and bitterness to be a little overwhelming for myself. If you want to go a different route, try some of the other bowls of noodles they have filled with offal, egg noodles, and an intensely flavored broth.

the herb they used in the dish gà tần is likely to be the mugwort (ngải cứu). yes it is used as a medical herb in vietnam. btw great video as always. keep it up!

for real though the way you eat is even more like a local than i am 0_0 when i notice little gestures like using kumquat to clean the chopsticks, flipping the chopsticks when u pick cucumbers from a bowl, eating mam tom (!!! i cannot eat it!!!), literally wandering to secret corners of the city finding dishes that barely any tourist can think of, you're actually amazing.

the vegetable is wormwood - ngải cứu, it goes well with egg too which is trứng ngải cứu, my favs! Dip a piece of trứng ngải cứu in kumquat and salt: the best! If you ever visit Hanoi again, try it! I think they do sell "gà tần" in Đà Lạt but they call it "gà tiềm" there. However, they don't use ngải cửu but it was also good, they had their own twist. So in case you miss this dish, you can always find some in Đà Lạt.
