John Osborne was able to have his final flight in a Huey helicopter thanks to a friend he made while channeling his creative side after serving in the Vietnam War.

Thank you John for your courage and service. Where may we see your art, sir? I believe it will heal many, many veterans and Showcase the heroism of the many thousands of young men who went into combat in a deadly conflict. The chopper veterans were constantly in danger and the aircrews and pilots performed amazing feats of bravery and chairmanship in the face of a determined and lethal enemy. I salute you Sir. Deepest respect from the South African bush.

the best job in the world, helicopter pilot during Vietnam War. from five in the morning, maybe late at night . Life is short, but worth it.

It’s weird to see Vietnam vets looking so old. In my mind’s eye they’ll be 50 years old forever

That was a great thing to do for an American hero. He won't forget. Been awhile since I was in a Huey. Last time was a jump at Ft. Bragg 1970.

I want to make a last jump. Not a tandem, but a jump from either a Hercules door or ramp or a C17. Even a De Havilland Caribou. It hit me today.

From the quick glimpses of his artwork you can tell he's quite and artist. It's a pity more wasn't shown on his artwork.

Always angered me how Viet vets were treated when they returned home. Disgraceful. My gratitude and respect to John and all who served.

It's been almost 30 years since I flew a Huey, throughout the years I've seen them at airshows and have climbed inside the cockpit, you never forget that feeling whether you were a pilot or passenger, its amazing to me that back then young men some still teenagers were flying these incredible machines, I'm sure the moment he heard those rotors beating the air a whole flood of emotions came over him, From a fellow veteran thank you for your service.
