If not for Muriel Anderson playing your instrument in this video, I might not have ever found that you existed. This is great because I have always wanted to play a harp guitar since I 1st saw one because I have played guitar since I was 13yrs old but have never had the opportunity to play one but with my style of playing,since my 1st guitar was a nylon string classical I bought new for $50 is why I prefer finger picking over a pick anytime. I live in Kentucky and just might drive out there to see play and buy myself one. I'm looking forward to seeing your selections

Some of you ought to recall this is not a top notch recording you are listening to! Quit criticizing the tone or what have you until you hear it in DVD, Record, or in person! I have seen and heard Muriel play in person and the instrument sounds great on the guitar part and the harp part! she is an excellent musician/performer, wonderful to look upon, and she sings nicely too!

My harp guitar is also a ToneDevil, but nylon. Amazing instrument. Muriel is incredible. Her technique just blows me away. Signed up for a Master Class with her in Santa Barbara in October - hoping just a little of that amazing rubs off. :)

why does that classical guitar in the background look so gigantic?
@NickleJ10 жыл бұрын
The instrument she's playing is (partly) a steel string. Steels usually have necks that taper and a smaller head compared to classical guitars, where the strings run parallel, the neck is wider and has no taper, and the head is bigger. That's why it looks so big.
@123unknownsoldier12610 жыл бұрын

I know this thread is old, but was just going to point out that there most certainly IS taper on a classical guitar neck, the strings aren't parallel at all. It's just wider
@mrpinhedz71346 жыл бұрын
Also, her harp guitar is designed with neck shorter by the length of the first half step, so it is tuned a half step higher, and it fits in the overhead compartment of an airplane.

watching her play it just occurred to me that with a harp guitar there is no place to place your palm or plant some fingers, so all of the muscle control has to be in your arm. that would get old pretty quick.

@@tracyavent-costanza346 That's nice. I was answering your comment about how she could hold her arm aloft without a resting place on the guitar. So, uh, did you really not perceive that I was remaining in context, or were you merely eager to charge a fellow human with error?
@tracyavent-costanza3464 жыл бұрын
@@danielpauldavis sorry maybe I was having trouble seeing what comment(s) went with other comments. I absolutely would guess that her arms would have muscle development associated with the harp guitars. I didn't mean to imply that I disagreed with you about any of that.
@tonedevilguitars4 жыл бұрын
Classical players never usually rest their palms on the strings or plant fingers while they play as some steel string players do. Muriel was classically trained and uses good technique. Also, the guitar is slightly elevated on her left knee raising the neck slightly so your shoulders can stay straight.
