Finding what to do in Gdansk city was easy, the Gdańsk Old Town is one of the top things to do. This Poland vlog covers... ⬇ Click 'Show More' ⬇
Gdansk old town is charming! It's one of the top things to do in Gdansk, Poland, so it was natural we head there to explore in this vlog - ultimate tourism but surprisingly the city centre isn't too crowded. Poland has some incredible old towns and this was no different.
Gdańsk is a small spot on the coast of Poland and part of Tricity, the other 2 we'll be exploring in more of our travel videos and vlogs to come.
If you are heading to Gdańsk don't miss St Marys, the walk to the top was our favourite thing to do and gave the absolute best views over the old town center.

Hey I am in Poland also....I am in Warsaw and have been here for 2 months. I am American form California and am pleasantly surprised with how much Poland has to offer. The beautiful Architecture and the great history of Poland and the old mixed with the modern. I love Krakow and the square but there is also great Restaurants. You must visit Wroclaw and of Course Warsaw. And you cant beat how budget friendly Poland is. Enjoy!

You're very welcome! I am also so surprised at how much I am loving Poland. I too am a digital Nomad and have been traveling Europe for 3 years now, but not really documenting it, mostly wanderlusting (if that's a word) around trying to find my favorite spot to lounge for a few months Lol. You guys are going to love Warsaw, its been raining for a few days so I know its not great right now for Vlogging, but I am sure you noticed how nice the people are in Poland and how many options there are for food and things to do. I would suggest some places to go but I am sure you have many suggestions from many people already.... Oh yeah I forgot to mention, that I was just as surprised as you guys were when you visited Sopot, it s amazing huh? Anyway enjoy Warsaw, and I love the videos. :)

Hi Guys, I love Gdansk. It's one of my favorite Polish cities. Please don't forget to go along the channels next to Hilton hotel. This area is great also after the sunset with lights giving beautiful impression of the surrounding buildings. I am also looking forward to seeing you in Sopot which is our sea resort. Hope you will have great weather to chill out on the beach. By the way, do you know that Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot are called "trojmiasto" which is a three city - three cities next to each other. Another interesting fact is that Polish Baltic sea cost line has 770 km. Quite long and prevailing beaches 😆

This is the city where WW2 began, there is a an ultra-modern Museum of WW2, just adjacent to the Old Town, must see. Then there is a Maritime Museum on one of the islands in the centre of Old Town. Then there is the famous shipyard and Solidarity Centre, and the Three-Crosses Monument to commemorate the shipyard workers massacred by the communists during 1970 revolt. Then, just to chill and relax I recommend a boat tour across the Bay of Gdansk to a really cool town named Hel (1-L) :). It is a beach/fishing little town at the tip of Hel Peninsula, btw this town was defended in WW2 by the Polish Navy for over a month and surrendered as the last stronghold, after rest of the country was already over-ran by Soviets and Germans. Then there is a small city of Sopot, polish equivalent of Malibu/Venice Beach with its famous viewing pier known as 'Molo'. This is probably the richest city in the country, playground for the rich and famous :) with sea-side old mansions. Then there is a modern city of Gdynia built by the Second Polish Republic in the 1930... I studied in Gdansk in the 1980's :)

Wow! Thank you for showing the new construction. That side of the river was for the longest time an empty lot with some ruins from the war. I see the city finally decided to build on it. In a way I feel that the old ruin should have been preserved, but I understand the city has to progress. Btw, I also vote that you visit the WW2 museum and Westerplatte.

You chose great time to see the old town there. The start of summer holidays is one the best - not as much ppl as in the middle of the summer when many times u cant see anything - its simply too crowdy. Next time when ur gonna be in 3city u gotta check out AleBrowar Gdynia pub and pizzeria next to it - really really worth it but try to do it during a workday it might be a lot of people and u might have problems taking a good spot outside. Gdynia Boulevards are pretty nice too not to mention Emigration Museum in Gdynia .

If you happen to be near Motlawa river check out the wooden structure called Żuraw. It's quite famous in Gdańsk as it's the medieval port crane built 1442-1444. If you go and stand inside the gate you'll find some information printed on the wall. Also looking up you'll notice a massive wheels/cogs that were used to pull the weight up to 4 tons at 11 meters above the ground.

Gdańsk/Danzig has a fascinating history. Between 1871 and 1919, Danzig was part of German West Prussia in the German Empire. From 1919 she was a free city administered under the League of Nations and sat in the ‘Polish Corridor’ between the German Reich to the west and German East Prussia to the east. The city was one of the reasons Herr Adolf went to war. After 1945, all German lands east of the Oder-Neiss line came under Polish Administration as the Soviets pushed Poland west, and this included Danzig, now renamed Gdańsk. Than you for showing us the city.

There's alot of controversy about the new buildings near Motlawa river. :( Architecture lovers are angry about them. I recommend amber museum though and happy you liked Mariacka street (Drukarnia!). :) Piwna is nice as well. I used to work in an amber business, so happy to see that you liked it. :)

Daneger and Stacey Little city?! Gdańsk has almost 460,000 residents and 260 km2 area. So Kraków (760,000 residents, 360 km2) in your opinion is "big"?

Adrianna - calm down a little 😮 It was just a turn of phrase. To us, the city centre/tourist area of Gdansk felt a lot smaller than Krakow. We mean no offence, just our 'feeling' summarised in 2 basic words to an old subscriber.

Haha Adrianna got triggered. I'm a Pole and yes, Gdansk is little compared to let's say Shanghai (population 24M), Bejing (18M), Moscow (13M), or NYC (10M). There is nothing bad about it, it's still a cool place to visit.

Daneger and Stacey There are many historic medium and small cities in Poland, such as Toruń, Sandomierz or Zamość, and naming them "small" is correct. Talking about such a large tourist area as Gdańsk Old City is a huge misunderstanding. I think you probably focus only on very large & well-known places, hence your problems with capturing the right proportions and correct naming. "Gdańsk is smaller than Kraków" - ok! "Gdańsk is small" - no, it's totally not correct. No offense, it's just my subjective feelings about your opinion on Gdańsk ;-)

I was visiting Gdansk in May, and can share some of my discoveries with you guys :) Can definitely recommend trying: Crafted ice cream in unusual flavors at Paulo Gelateria (bad service and long line, but it's worth it). Coffee at Drukarnia Cafe - located in old printing house, with nice industrial vibe and "paper chairs" on the 2nd floor (coffee is like music there - you can compose it). Pierogi at Pierogarnia Mandu (better book a table there, or else wait in really loooong line) - definitely go "through the looking glass" and check out the toilet ;) "Fishy" dinner at Zafishowani Restaurant - rather expensive place, but the food is pretty decent, fresh and made from local products. Shopping in newly opened Forum Gdansk - huge mall with lots of shops. Solidarity tour with Free Walkative Tour team - interesting stories with references to pop culture, lifestyle etc., and really cool tour guide - Marcin :)

Your second pronunciation of "Gdańsk" was in fact better. It's important to know that's there is only one syllable in this word, not two. So there is no vowel between G and D. And "ń" is very similar to Spanish "ñ" (señor, piñata). See here: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4d/Pl-Gda%C5%84sk.ogg Thanks for the awesome video!
