Normally it does. However this version of the Defiant has some highly resistant armour.

I'm afraid I have to agree with your assessment, RBG. The simple fact of the matter is that the Kyoto has an obvious edge in technology and firepower, being newer, and a purpose-built Klingon-Starfleet hybrid. However, I can't ever not be proud of the Defiant - the finest, toughest little ship ever pressed into service! I will always be rooting for the Defiant! This version only fires one salvo of quantums at a time (not two like in the show), but it otherwise seems very much like the one we saw on screen! The way the Defiant finished off the Kyoto in the first battle - with just the pulse phasers - was a nice touch and made it feel like a genuine DS9 moment, if you know what I mean. It was also quite fun to watch the acrobatics! Great Job!

😨now that was wicked Admiral... eeeh ok.. yes the Defiant was a tough little ship... the Kyoto , lol that first shot at the start of the video, them on the ship were'' like really!', lol. gosh hard to say. that Kyoto beam, has no effect on the Defiant.. crikey.. wicked.. love the battle Admiral.. nice flying and dodging .. 😊🖖

Don't know where the notion of there being a warhead in the front of the Defiant came from but there just isn't one. That's the docking corridor that the deflector dish. No more no less.

It also appears to have a photon launcher in there. No mention whatsoever in canon about a detachable warhead, I think it’s from one of the technical manuals, which are licensed but not canon, similar to a videogame.

My ship of choice to use in Bridge Commander is typically the updated Defiant. I LOVE the ship! Myself, I've never been very successful in using the Kyoto to win battles so I was very surprised by the outcome of the 2nd match. The secret in using the Defiant is to continually keep rotating the ship around to allow the recently diminished shields a little time to recharge. I don't think the computer flew the ship properly to allow the shields to recharge optimally. My vote STILL HAS to be for the Defiant. She is a beautiful, powerful and capable ship.

Defiant's shields absorbed so many hits from the Kyoto, in the first fight. I thought it might lose but it held on, very impressive 🖖

Oh yes, I read about that on a Star Trek geek website. The Defiant class's nose is some kind of last resort warhead weapon (which would probably destroy the Defiant as well). But what the heck, I wanted to see what it would do too. Just like when Colson shot Loki with that experimental destroyer weapon. "Oh... that's what it does."

I would agree the Kyoto is modestly more powerful. But if used right the Defiant is its peer. I would be interested to see how the Bakrus and Kyoto fare against one another.

You fly the Defiant like she’s cruiser. (I am old so forgive me) The Defiant isn’t a bamf because of her weapons and armor. It’s her speed and maneuverability that makes her formidable. If you adjusted her speed you won’t need to make such wide turning archs. Unless the game dynamics have changed since I was a kid. If you slow down in a turn and then accelerate after the apex of the arch you can get a full frontal salvo and a full aft salvo. By the time their turn is done your already hitting them with another pass. Try it against bigger ships and they won’t stand a chance. You did it a few times. Those were the close calls of ramming hits. If you’d slowed down you’d have had them dead to rights. You’re playing like Charlie Renolds. I Used this tactic with a Miranda. Almost took out my friend in a Galaxy Class doing it. Almost.

Hard choice for me on this one. I LOVE the Defiant. However I think you're right the Kyoto just wins this barely. I too wish we had seen them launch that forward nose section of the Defiant and use it as a weapon.

The Kyoto is clearly the faster and the better ship, but it also depends on how it's piloted.

Zhey were both quite neck and neck... I think Defiant was less damaged by the end of the first round than Kyoto was at the end of round 2...
