The thing is, 4th gen are more like the 1st & 2nd gen than the 3rd & 5th in that each members of the groups has very different interests & approach to their streaming method (Towa geared toward FPS, Luna plays a lot of Platformers & RPG, Watame focused on talking/singing streams & casual games while kanatan plays A LOT of Sandbox), additionally their talking interests also very different from each others. Honestly the only similarities that they have is that they sings a lot (except Luna who in her defense, has starting to sing a lot too since last year) and that they can fit in any collab streams with other members. And that’s okay. Not every gen has to be 3rd gen or NePoLaBo close.

To add to that, they transitioned into their own individual stream personalities *_after_* Coco graduated. Despite their individualistic approach to streaming, holoForce was glued tightly together as a package via the hololive Morning Primetime Bloc (Watame no Uta and Asacoco Live), having the same individualistic members hone their craft as part of a segment of either morning show before eventually being unleashed into the world post-Coco. Compared to the other gens, NePoLaBo became even more tightly-knit together after Aloe got removed from holoFive, 3rd Gen went into a more individualistic approach like holoForce after Rushia left holoFantasy, but the remaining four still retains most of their base camaraderie values from when they were still a complete generational unit. If anything, Yonkisei today is as loose as zero-kisei (hololive Origins), having very memorable partial unit collabs every now and then, compared to 1st gen having only Plasmagic Seasons being their actual active memorable collab, and 2nd gen being the literal sololive group.

Full 4th gen collab is such a rare occurrences, that I could barely remember the last time they are togethers. The latest one that I could think of are the mario kart collab or the new years family (- Watame) skit

Then that person had to move, and while you're still friendly with those other kids but you just didn't hang out together as much as you used to when that one friend you all shared was around.

The thing I've felt about 4th gen since the beginning, is that they're the most casual with each other, unlike the other gens that hold pride over how close they are with each other, 4th gen never did, we could just feel it without them pointing it out, god I miss whenever Coco used to collab with Luna, she used to talk like her and say Nanora after every sentence Lol

Not really hard to see why if you watch anyone from gen 4. While theyre pretty close off stream as evidenced by stories of them always talking off stream look at their usual stream time. Watame and Luna streams near midnight to morning. Kanata and Towa stream throughout the day but almost never near midnight. 3 of their members are usually always working on a song or live and 2 of them are almost always invited in a collab with other units / groups. Theyre probably the gen outside of holox thats super active with off stream work with for example Kanata and Watame take an ungodly amount of time to prepare for concerts. Both started practicing for their last concert 6 months before. Towa usually 3 months before and she famously never took a break for 2 years straight before her month long break last year. Watame is almost always writing a song or releasing a cover.

As far as I remember the last 4th Gen collab (after Coco's graduation) was in December 2021, Mario Kart as practice for the Mario Kart Tournament 2022, where they all agreed that Gen 4 collabs feel like returning to your parents house and that they feel like they don't constantly have to talk, unlike during collabs with other member.

Their content is just very different. Towa a powerhouse singer who loves fps games and Luna a cutesy finger who loves a very wide variety of games, including a ton of retro stuff. Might be hard for them to find a collab that connects them well. I have no doubt they're friends though

Although some people argue that 3rd gen was the most tightly knit and close, I've always strongly disagreed considering 4th gen started very strong with constant collabo projects (Most Coco stuff) along with off-collabos in the HoloHouse and such. 4th gen was much closer and if they seem distant now, it is only because they lost the core of the group that they loved so dearly.
