I like the best and worst list pretty equally. I'm going to give the voters the benefit of the doubt and say that they didn't like that version of Otome Dissection and not the song itself. Or it could just be song fatigue? If you hear any song too many times you're going to hate it. No matter how great it is. I lived in Seattle in the 90s. It was 30 years before I could hear 'Smells like teen spirit' without hating it.

As a REAL Mafuyu's Bug voter, I wanna talk about why I like it. Of course I cannot change how y''all feel about the alt vocal, I just want to say that I do not have the niigo bias nor character bias. I like the cover because it kind of reflects the chaotic and about-to-collapse mentality of Mafuyu, and my ears don't find it bad. I feel her strong feelings through the vocal. But it's okay to have different opinion. I also get some very unpopular opinion, like I never enjoy Showtime Ruler since my ears find it too noisy, no matter how many times I listen to it. But I won't judge it as a bad song because it's only my own feeling. I hope I have made my point clear that not all voters for Mafuyu's Bug alt vocal are biased because of the unit or character who sings it. (disclaimer: I am a WS fan XD)

I feel like the Mafuyu Bug voters are less biased than the Smile ID 3D MV voters (I voted for it myself, but uh, do not think it should have had the chance to beat Ego Rock 💀)- hence the heart. Also bc I like to encourage not overly mean discussion in general.

Honestly I agree about Mafuyus alt. It's chaotic and very messy. But I love it. There are Sekai alts that I really don't like because they come off at best underwhelming and at worse, literally hurt my ears. Her alt isn't one of them. I feel like it like it fits the character and the song really well.

I’m thinking that it’s likely because of Ichika’s harmony in the non-alt version. It doesn’t clash well with Shiho’s singing, so I can somewhat see the dislike for that. Still, the non-alt song is super amazing, and I feel like there are MANY worse songs. But seriously Shiho’s cover for that song is the best thing to have ever graced my ears.

I am actually severely disappointed in some of the results, but not because they don't match my own opinions (there’s a lot of that too tho lol). I'm disappointed because people blatantly ignored what the category was just to vote for their favorite group/character. This isn't me being salty, I know for a fact that this is exactly what happened. Towards the very end a TON of Mizuki related things had their rankings jump massively- in every single category. If it weren't limited to one per Google account I'd say it felt like someone botted it- it was that severe and sudden (I checked, it appears there was no botting involved, but there was a massive influx within the last 2 days). The most overtly noticeable jumps being USSEEWA going from 31st to 26th place (this is inoffensive) and Ego Rock's 3DMV 1st place lead going from being a landslide to being by only 6 votes (this is what I have a problem with). This might sound accusatory and conspiratorial to you so I actually have further evidence of this being the case... People voted for the Tondemo Wonderz 2DMV before I removed it as an option. It wasn't out yet, I removed it because of the delay, and yet it got votes before said delay. I only put the survey out earlier than originally intended because I got a hit Sekai related tweet and wanted to take advantage of it to get more respondents. This wasn’t a problem for the other commission song 2DMVs that were a part of the anniversary celebration and not yet released. WxS stans are just going to vote for anything Tondemo related, even if they hadn't seen the 2DMV yet because they’re just that biased it seems. It's obnoxious for me, someone that wants REAL results for the Best 2DMVs, not stan culture nonsense. I wanted people to vote based on the quality of the video itself, not what song it is or who's singing in it. For example, the Dreamin Chuchu cover is not good, but it has a very nice 2DMV so credit where credit is due. Some of the results are BAFFLING to me unless people are merely stanning (some results, not all- I believe a good chunk are understandable even if it’s not how I'd personally vote). Stan culture is plague and I hope if people are reading this in 2023 they will choose to actually vote how the category is asking you to judge. Best Song is for the songs by the groups/characters you stan, Best Vocalist is for what characters you think sing the best, and Best MVs are for what MVs you think are visually the best- *regardless* of what song is being sung (the first two categories feel voted for accurately/properly, the last one does not). Obviously there’s going to be overlap with fave songs and fave MVs, but these results are so inconsistent in a way that it’s clear that song bias was strong in categories where it shouldn’t have been (seriously, Journey for 2DMV but not Ultramarine Hymn??? They’re BOTH animated segments of the game’s stories. What’s the difference other than the song itself??? I cannot imagine the thought process of voting one but not the other unless you’re judging the song which you weren’t supposed to be). I thought my instructions on the survey itself were clear about all this, but I guess some people just do not read. That’s why I’m disappointed. 😐

@#1RuiKasa Fan Yeah if it’s actually a favorite MV that’s fine! When you see the results you’ll see some MVs that are lackluster next to some of the others they’re in the Top 10 with and stan culture feels like the only possible explanation for why those known fan favorite songs were pushed so high over other songs that probably deserved it more (like I said, Journey is in the Top 10 2DMVs but Ultramarine Hymn isn’t??? Make it make sense 😭)

@@mooniecake That’s exactly what happened as evidenced by what happened with Tondemo’s 2DMV. It’s a mix of MVs you’d expect to be there because they’re worthy from the obvious high effort put into them and MVs ranked higher than they probably should be because of the song itself is a fan favorite. I had forgotten to mention extends further down the rankings beyond what I show, like Top 20 instead of just Top 10 so my disappointment will most likely run deeper than anyone else’s.

Sure I like mizuki as a character, but the amount of things they won shows the amount of bias towards them. Sure my votes probably had a bit of bias towards ichika (quite sad about her results) but most of the other top songs and covers very much deserved their place

Bug's MV has a very pleasing artstyle and i love all the graphical touches with the glitches and the way the characters spin on the line about spinning But that's my graphic designer brain putting some justification on it. Peaky Peaky would be my Number 1 based PURELY on how slick the motion graphics are

I kind of fear when most of Leo/need and MMJ songs are in bottom, even though L/n has many excellent songs and MMJ excels so much in covers (i am Leoniigo fan BTW, but every unit has something great so i decided to pick at least one song for each unit) Also slower songs like Saisei might be very low too...

The Worst 10 doesn’t include any song for being slow. There’s only 3 L/n songs in the Top 50 tho, all 3 being commission songs. At least MMJ did better. No songs in the worst and they have 6 in the Top 50- 3 comms, 3 covers. The biggest W L/n has is one of their vocalists doing something that otherwise only Mizuki was able to achieve in rankings: multiple songs in the Top 10 Best Alts. Also something cute is that every group has one of their members in the Top 5 Vocalists. That’s the *one* category where everyone seems to have been treated as equals as proven by the results. I even generally agree with it for my own personal rankings minus the absence of a different MMJ member that I would put as my favorite vocalist overall.

Honestly I think the dev team was experimenting with Wondershow’s 3DMVs, which is why they’re generally more unique from the other ones (the use of a different stage layout for almost every song and stuff like the acting implemented into Smile Survey Team, the most energetic choreography between the five groups, and the way Ego Rock’s 3DMV mirrors the original MV). That being said, I think stan culture definitely played into Wondershow being so dominant over the 3DMV category. I mean, I like Showtime Ruler, but I don’t really think it should be in the top 10. And honestly, while I may be biased since Tondemo-Wonderz is a plague on my already declining mental health, I don’t think Tondemo-Wonderz should be in the top 10 for 3DMV either. It’s fun and energetic, but I personally find As You Like It and Chururira Chururira Daddadda more fun. I completely agree for the 2DMV thing. How Bug got first in 2DMVs is beyond me since it’s basically a bog-standard Proseka 2DMV + some glitchy effects, and same for Doctor=Funk Beat not making top 10 at the very least (despite the song itself being… debatably bad, the 2DMV is quite good). I’m surprised that animated MVs like Bokura Mada Underground, Journey, Gunjou Sanka, and Tokugawa Cup Noodle Ban didn’t end up topping the list. Hell, I’m personally of the opinion that Cinema’s effects are better than Bug’s. I think Bug only got voted for best 2DMV because the song itself is basically the most popular in the whole game.

I'm here maybe to give some insights on what people's thought regarding Bug that wins 2DMV category. The thing is people don't watch all the 2DMVs available on KZbin or even during gameplay (device issues). In KZbin too, I bet people just watch songs that they like while songs like Dreamin' Chu Chu which considerably bad, people would not watch that MV so hence they would not vote for it since they don't know the MV's quality. I think people just vote based on what they had watched. So Bug being no 1 is not surprising (although such an unfortunate) since it is the most popular song and many people watched the MV too. And the votings format for the section is we can choose multiple options. Maybe people not considering it the best, but since we can choose 15 options (cmiiw), people just include it no matter what.

Right, I would’ve chose doctor funk beat and bokumadaunderground’s 2DMVs to be the best but since so many people fucking hate the covers they don’t bother looking at their mvs. Me personally bug wouldn’t have even made on the list especially not in 1st place. Agreed with everyone in the Best Vocalist category beside Rui and Shiho. - Rui is arguably the best vocalist of WxS but he doesn't surpass Akito. Akito has sang in the 5th octave several times while Rui never attempts to do so. - I won't talk about complicated singing techniques here but Shiho is really weak on her high register. Ichika is the main vocalist of L/n for a reason.

I have no experience in music and I really just listen to what I like so this might sound unbearable but I agree that shiho isn’t the best vocalist. But I like her on some songs like peaky peaky etc and she’s also probably my favourite proseka character… but sometimes she sounds like she’s sleeping while she singing. In bokumadaunderground and lost ones weeping it seems like she just can’t get any higher. Like her voice seems flat on the ground kinda but I think that’s because they wanna kinda keep that sort of cool girl tomboyish type of vibe with her character and I think like I said it works with like. Cooler songs like peaky peaky where they’re supposed to be badass 😎 and like tough as nails but sometimes it drags her down and it’s sad because I like her a lot n she’s like my favourite and like awesome and stuff but yea I agree with you. I believe I voted in this and I tried to be pretty even with group distribution (to be fair my second favorite unit is MMJ so I'm probably one of three people who voted for Viva Happy LMFAO). Doctor Funk Beat and Bring It On being in worst does not surprise me but I am glad that they were 1 and 2 in most-improved because deserved. Also Rad Dogs in the best 2DMVs is surprising but I like that one so I'm happy about that. Sorry about the voting influxes, that always sucks and it's kind of frustrating when you're a fan of a less popular group but what's new haha. So, uh, yeah, about that Mafuyu Bug thing... I had most of these assets ready to go but not numbered like 3 days before the poll ended because after checking daily, everything seemed to have settled their placements by that point. I’m trying to tier the current event in JP Sekai, but wanted this out asap so it was super handy to have all this ready. Mafuyu’s Bug solo was actually looking like it was going to get kicked out for Kanade Cutlery, but then the Mizuki surge happened and with it came a Mafuyu Bug surge too. With how much more finite they just made alt tickets I really don’t want to buy an alt that I actively dislike. I wouldn’t force any of you guys to do such a thing either so I hope that can be respected. Mafuyu really has so many better alts I could be using her tickets on instead. Syncing to the Niigo version’s gameplay is annoying as well, and let’s not forget audio balancing with the one clip not from a cell phone recording. I try to make my audio quality as consistent as possible for headphone users. The surge caught me off guard so it’s actually easier to make a brief shitpost style thing than to incorporate it in some way. I’m already losing a day of grinding to my late birthday festivity, I don’t want to lose another to audio balancing nonsense. If anyone is actually pressed about this you can just make your own ranking video and praise Mafuyu’s Bug solo to high heavens, it’s your right- as it is mine to not want to put forward the effort to modify this video for its inclusion. If it were higher (like at least 4th or 5th) and more steady for the duration of me holding this survey I might have sucked it up and bought it, but a last minute 9th place boost isn’t special enough to warrant that for me. Again, sorry, but also not really. I hated this alt before the survey and this has made me like it even less

i am honestly shocked that no alt duos made it in the alt vocal sections! Even if you can argue for stan culture, the fact that people werent voting for their "ship" duos surprised me. I love some of the alt duos! An Touya children record is god tier (honestly the whole cover is god tier. in the album version they added a spray can sound effect, chefs kiss) and the tsukasa-nene chururira is so gooddd. Yeah uhh you were not kidding about the bias in some of these wow. Like especially with Alt Vocals and the MV categories those got baaaaddd. Alt Vocals was populated too much by Mizuki and left some really good singers out by the wayside (nothing for Haruka, Airi or Toya?), 3D MVs didnt have terrible choices aside from ID Smile but a lot of them could have been swapped out for more interesting ones (like 1-2 Fanclub, Children Record or Karakuri Pierrot) and 2D MVs was just people voting for what they watch on YT and not what was actually interesting, Bug is fun but was a bit too high, Rad Dogs probably shouldnt be there and i dont get why Journeys there but not Gunjo Sanka when their kind of the same thing. And again a lot of really good ones got left out and its a shame. (no Shoujo Rei, KING, Nonsense Literature, Bokura Underground, Peaky Peaky, Dreamin Chuchu, Metamo Reborn etc......) I understand bias is a thing everyone has and you dont realize your doing it but this was getting kind of ridiculous yall. Also bummed that L/n and MMJ got mostly left out of the top 50 again, they had a lot of good songs people didnt vote for. (Ikanaide, Hello World, Stage of Sekai, Earths Final Confession, Metamo Reborn, If etc....) I dunno if its intetional or just the popularity of VBS/WxS/Nightcord creeping up once again. I'm disappointed in you psekai fandom 😔 another note from me: I know my opinion probably doesn't matter as much since I had no idea this poll was going on, but personally wouldn't have voted neither Journey or Gunjou for top 2DMVs because A) despite the smoother animation for most parts, and the fact all of it was literally made by one guy, the VBS bias in Journey pissed me off (like c'mon the animator couldn't make it any more obvious that they don't like L/N) and B) while Gunjou looks nice and closer to the card art, the animation is extremely jarring at certain parts (the kanamafu part near the end, the part where minoharu jump and shizuairi just... pose in like minimal amount of frames?, the anhane part where the power gets cut off and shihosaki one where she catches saki from falling over... oh and the part where haruka sees her past self in minori)

Honestly I really hated Leoneed’s vocal in Lost One’s Weeping. As someone who severely related to this song and a lot of Neru’s songs as well, they didn’t give the chorus justice. My interpretation of the chorus would be some kid screaming at the world-at the adults-at the education system for answers to his questions, being desperate for some form of response, but also knowing that whatever he’ll get will never be the answer he’s looking for, but still clinging on to that small bit of false hope. However, LeoNeed’s singing in that part was a complete opposite of my interpretation, like they’re singing in a way that sounds more like a kid asking the teacher if there’s any homework for the day

Unpopular opinion Journey's 2d mv shouldn't have been that high up. The concept of an anime style opening is great, but if you pause to actually look at the drawings there's no harmony between the colors or they are just straight up ugly, and some frames even look drawn by a teenager rather than a professional. As a mafuyu fan the one where she's standing in sekai which is supposed to represent the serious argument at the end of the n25 story is so goofy, like what is going on with her chest? I'm not very experienced with animation but my assumption has been that it was extremely rushed to meet the deadline or all the budget went to the other mv. Kinda crazy that it was so high up in the votes but not Ultramarine Hymn. Talking about 2D mvs, the nijiro story 2Dmv always warms my heart, the drawings are just so adorable although it's one of the simpler ones in comparison to other WxS mvs. And the dappou rock one is one of the most creative ones, although intentionally ugly it always makes me smile.

Hmm... those 3DMV rankings are a little questionable, yet understandable. Most of them have an element that makes them memorable (like ShizuAi in R+C, the cool 2d bit in Niccori, or the AAAAAAAAAAs covering the screen in aishite *3), but some of them are probably there simply because of the choreography. I bet that the people who voted for Tondemo Wonders or ID Smile have probably seen the dance 10 million times, so it's literally ingrained into their skull, even though both of them have only above average visuals. Like for instance, I LOVE the 3DMV to Lost and Found visually (all of the camera angles, settings, storytelling etc. are just *chef's kiss), but because it's a Leo/Need song, there isn't going to be a memorable dance that distinguishes it from other Leo/Need songs or makes Tiktokers interested in dancing it. I also noticed that you were questioning the 2DMV results, but that looks to me like recency bias (for example, Journey and UMH are animated versions of the game's story, so have the same concept, but UMH came out a year before Journey, and no casual fan is going to scroll back and view ALL of the 2DMVs just to see which ones objectively look the best), ESPECIALLY since 2DMVs generally aren't as memorable as 3DMVs as there is only so much motion you can achieve with a few illustrations (unless you are Tokugawa Cup Noodle Ban) idk that's just my input hope it makes sense

Ultramarine Hymn's 2DMV released the same day as Journey's. The only recency bias is the song itself. That's what I mean when I say it's clear that they're voting for the song and not the video.

It just feels so bland compared VBS’ other commissions. Even songs like Flyer and Machi, which stray away from the street music style VBS is known for, is more engaging to me than Forward. This is my opinion ofc

Guessing because it's boring??? Like if you'd give it to any other group then the fandom would eat it up but because VBS is all about energetic songs it's really lackluster
