Viewports And Sheet Layers in Vectorworks

A viewport can be used on a sheet layer or on a design layer. Viewports on design layers have the same scale as the destination design layer. We used sheet layer viewports in Chapter 1 to create drawings of the bollard. In this exercise we will look at sheet layer viewports in more detail. Viewports are powerful; they have several options that we will learn about.

@@archoncad amazing thank you for the playlist link I've saved it and will go through it from the beginning - I'm loving that you break each module down into short videos, it makes it easy for me to make time and practice as I learn. To be honest I'm already amazed how easy and intuitive Vectorworks is (compared with Cinema4D and 3DsMax that I've used in the past and both of which I felt frustrating to use) but with your tutorials the learning curve is made even more fast and easy so I'm very grateful for the content you have shared.

is there any way to change the hieght of the cut plan for a plan view? I have a building that has 3' of stone veneer at the front and transitions to Siding. I want to showcase the stone for the builder and cant figure out how to showcase my viewport at a lower height to achieve such things.

Yes, there is a way to achieve what you want. You can create a horizontal section viewport by selecting an elevation viewport and creating a section through that at the required height. That is a great idea for a movie, thank you.
