I was in HS when this released, so I've listened to it a lot. But today I just realized this could easily be a Billy Idol tune.

Caught Greg and the band--accidentally--at the Michigan State Fair, of all places, back in the late 80's, I believe. It was on a small outdoor stage with a crowd of only 20 to 25 people, and I remember feeling badly for them. But, to their credit, he and the band played like it was a packed house, and he even chatted nicely with the audience. That's stayed with me. RIP, Greg.

I was looking for reaction music a few weeks ago. After that day I have started watching your channel. I love your reaction to the beautiful " The Year of the Cat". I am so impressed on how genuine you guys enjoy music and your honesty in your reactions. The chemistry and the likeable personality is what I have been looking for. I have finally found my home to hear music reaction. Today I subscribed and will also support your channel. I am 25, and came from.a home where I hear all types of music genre.. I think.you would enjoy a 1970 song Called Green Eye Lady by Sugar Loaf. I hope you consider my request. ❤❤❤❤❤ Sofia

Written by the late Greg Kihn and the late Steve Wright. Kihn was a Baltimore native. So was the late Ric Ocasek. Kihn and the late Eddie Money moved to Berkeley. They hired the late Bill Graham as their manager. I , a San Francisco native 🌁, remember Money and Kihn. I was a young boy 👦 then. In the 2000s, Kihn hosted a radio 📻 show in San Jose. RIP, Ric Ocasek, Bill Graham, Steve Wright abd Greg Kihn. Suggested video 📹: The Greg Kihn Band performed Jeopardy.

I have heard this song before. And I recall reading about Greg’s death last month. Yes, Nick, it definitely has a “driving up the Pacific coast highway” feel to it. I didn’t pick up on the drums when hearing it before though. I really liked the way they sounded in this song.

I agree with Nick. Totally great car song, kinda makes you wanna do pedal to the metal. Gets a little repetitive was thinking there's gonna be some kind of solo but it wasn't...Billy Idol vibes. Good song but only in specific occasions cause it would get boring fast.

I can safely say I've never heard this version of the song before. This is definitely one case of "less is more." The single version, clocking-in at under 3 minutes, is the perfect length. The full-length album version is literally the single version repeated once over. It doesn't add anything to the song. It only makes one get sick and tired of the song quicker. This is one of those relatively rare cases in which I actually *prefer* the single version. Next, play "Jeopardy," The Greg Kihn Band's only Billboard #1. It's funky and cool.

Yeeeaaahhh. You know this song! You thought you didn't when you saw the title, but you know you know it! Obvious hooks deployed. Completely meta. Breaks the fourth wall. (The guy later became a DJ).

Fun fact: the Punk-a-billy band Dash Rip Rock used to play this song, but sing the lyrics to the Beverly Hillbillies. ("Let me tell a story 'bout a man named Jed. Buh-buh-bah Buh-buh-ba-ba-bah"). Works perfectly.

Like many great songs back then ( The Marshall Plan" by Blue Oyster Cult. :"Train In Vain" by The Clash and this song were hard to request from a radio DJ because the name wasn't in the song! You'd have to sing lyrics before the DJ knew what you wanted to hear.. CONFUSING!

Why did you talk about the Packers? 🤢 Fun song! This song does not remind me of a break up song in the traditional sense. I was very young, but when I hear this it reminds me of when my grandparents moved to a farm close to Paducah, and my aunt &uncle moved to Texas, that summer. So this must have been popular then. All the kids in my neighborhood, then, were all older, I can remember them listening to this when we were outside. Just like Nick is dancing with his shoulders - that is exactly how I dance to it, especially in the car. Did not know this was called The Breakup Song... So catchy!

Definitely fits the ‘classic rock’ era. FYI… radio plays the short version 98% of the time; more songs and commercials per hour. I had several radio DJ gigs in my early 20s before moving to film/TV. Thanks!

There is no full version to this song. This "full" version is simply the song okayed twice back to back. But, its good because the original is way to short.
