The radio edit was a rare wise choice. This album cut tends to drone on. I do remember I was learning the guitar when this was big, and during that chorus, when the chords change from D Minor to F Major, it opened doors. The chords sound the same! But different! Little moments like that help one understand music
@centuryrox2 жыл бұрын
Is this an album cut, or did the creator of the source video just repeat the song?
@classiclife72042 жыл бұрын
@@centuryrox Oh, didn't think of that, but I don't think so, because the galloping snare at the end was only at the end. It would be weird to splice in 6/7 of the song and not the whole song.

D-minor is the relative minor of F-major.The scale for each of them have the exact same notes (F, G, A, B-flat, C, D, E), but the notes for the two chords only use three notes from that scale, so they sound related but different. D-minor uses D, F, and A. F-major uses F, A, and C

The "uh-uh-uh, uh-uh-uh-uh-uh" part is what caught my ear when I first heard this song too, which is yet another case of a not-Top 10 hit from the 1980s becoming a classic with time. "The Breakup Song (They Don't Write 'Em)" peaked at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 5, 1981. The Greg Kihn Band did have one mega-hit, but it was denied #1 by another mega-hit. "Jeopardy" peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 on May 7, 1983. Keeping it out of #1 was "Beat It" by Michael Jackson, which spent three weeks at #1, beginning April 30, 1983. I highly recommend "Jeopardy" for a listen.
