Song won the Grammy for song of the year. Michael McDonald had the core of the song and Kenny wrote the lyrics when his father was dying in the hospital. Some people think that Michael Jackson copied some of Kenny's vocalizations.
@TheRealShaqMr Жыл бұрын
But MJ didn't copy it, Seth Riggs taught that style. The vocal technique is called "Speech Level Singing" SLS. MJ, KL and George Michael mastered it. Main MJ and GM.

The great Kenny Loggins with the great Michael McDonald on background vocals. Kenny has a great catalog. In 1980, this was the theme of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. It was brought back in 81 and maybe 82 too. I'm glad you covered the origin of the song. Gives it more meaning.

The first time I heard Kenny Loggins was when he was part of Loggins & Messina. I had their 45 record Your Mama Don’t Dance. 1972. Also, he has an album of lullaby’s, which I would play every night to fall asleep to if my husband wasn’t opposed, called Return To Pooh Corner. It really is good!!!

My first big time rock-and-roll concert experience was seeing Kenny when he was still the first half of Loggins and Messina. That was 1974. They have been favorites of mine (together and apart) all this time since then. After six studio and two live albums together, in 1976 Kenny and Jimmy parted ways. They both embarked on solo careers but Kenny is the one who caught the fast train to stardom. I've got all fourteen of his studio albums and both of his live albums. I can be your Kenny guru if you want me to be. I know there are several hits that it would seem logical to pursue next, but, there is a deep cut, also from Keep the Fire, that I think will interest you. Ty said that at one point, Kenny sounded like Michael Jackson. My all-time favorite Kenny tune, Who's Right, Whos Wrong (with a bit of a jazz vibe) has MJ singing background. Check that out first, then move on to Footloose, Don't Fight It, I'm Alright, Celebrate Me Home, Whenever I Call You Friend. Then we can go back to some great deep cuts and guest appearences (Kenny did a duet with Phoebe Snow on her album, Never Letting Go.) Ball's in your court, gentlemen...
