The sharing of this gift in the Vatican grounds may not be prudent, but it, certainly, doesn't rise to the level of scandal that having a Buddah statue displayed in a Church would. Sometimes, you have to be willing to not be so conflictive to help foster dialogue and gain openness. Not everyone is called to this ministry as some are superbly rigid even if it means burning the world down. PS.. I removed my observation as to you not being Catholic, in an attempt to lead by example of what it means to foster dialogue and avoid unnecessary frictions. I hope you can, maybe, in this gesture, appreciate what Pope Francis is attempting to do with Lutherans, healing divisions, without forgoing God's theological truth.

It is morally wrong simply to wait for some authoritative decision in the future from the Church. St Catherine of Siena did not hesitate to speak her mind about the anti-pope crisis of her day. St Catherine of Siena did not sit around and wait for the cardinals (or the bishops) to resolve the problem. Rather, in no uncertain terms she told those cardinals that they had installed Satan on the throne of Peter. (She even went so far as to tell them that they deserved to be tortured for what they had done.) Our own situation today as to papal invalidity is not novel to our time. It has occurred before. And those who lived before had to decide, on the basis of their own reason, who the true pope was. Of course there are matters of Catholic faith which are not attainable through reason alone. But those things are not at issue here. The question of the identity of a true pope is not inherently a matter of Catholic faith, but rather relates to questions of actual material facts. Jesus commanded us to love God with our whole mind. The mind is the seat of reason. We must use our reason to come to the truth as regards Bergoglio’s invalidity. Jesus also commanded us to be wise as serpents. Again, a call to use our minds. Our minds are the only means we have to come to the truth of this matter of the papacy. What is not acceptable is for us to appeal to some shallow excuse to attempt to justify our failure to employ our minds. Always remember what St Paul wrote about the necessity of each of us having a love of truth in order to be saved. Each of us should pray regularly and perseveringly to receive the grace of having an overarching love of truth.

I am not a traditional Catholic and my issues with Vigano principally over a harsh statement he made about divorce. He was clearly out of touch with no fault divorce that allows one spouse, usually the husband, just walk away. However. I agree Pope Francis is heretical. I support Vigano and cancelled priests.

@margaretwandel5660 Dear Margaret, that must have been terribly painful for you. But, it is solid Church Teaching, not Viganò being "out of touch". Social liberties/heresies do not set Church Teachings, nor "inform" them, although that is what the post-conciliar Church has been trying to do: meld social teachings to the Church. Jesus said: no remarriage after a divorce (until one partner dies, OR...a lawful annulment is procured). In our modern age of anything-goes, that *does* seem harsh, especially when we're not in control of what the other person does. It seems unfair. But, the bond of Matrimony is a very real Sacrament that cannot be broken except by death.

The good Archbishop didn’t leave the Church, the church left him. Men (Cardinals) elected the Pope but God only knows what is in Francis’ heart, whether he is a heretic, or a schismatic. Regardless, he (Francis) occupies the Chair of Peter on earth but that doesn’t guarantee he has “authority”. A infiltrator or a usurper could sit on the Chair of Peter. If he legally sits in the Chair of Peter (properly elected) but is openly, or is a closeted schismatic, heretic or usurper he loses the authority of the office. If that’s the case, everything he does is null. ONLY God knows in the moment what is in his heart. A “legitimate” sitting body College of Cardinals COULD make a finding one way or another but we know that is NEVER going to happen in today’s environment . It is quite apparent they (Cardinals) are for the most part seemingly a college of impotent eunuchs, unable to produce any fruit. His predecessor (future Pope) could make a finding “ex post facto” but that would be water under the bridge and of no benefit for today.

I was in the company of some religious today.i was disappointed with a modernist priest who attended the event. I overheard him advising a young seminarian and telling him "an hour is a very long mass and it's better to keep it short. People get bored if you go on too long.The weekday mass is grand.25 minutes is enough". The same "priest" wasn't wearing any collar and appeared annoyed when we said a full rosary. He never offered to lead us in prayer and while answering the rosary raised his voice and tried to speed up the responses, This disregard for the rosary is rampant among many of the current clergy in my humble opinion. I have heard of the division in seminaries in the seventies between the "rosary boys"and the hip new order priests. Apparently it's gotten worse on the evidence I've seen myself I don't believe many of these guys have true vocations at all.

I try not to get into generational blaming, but we can and should pray for that generation as they come to the twilight of their lives and prepare to meet their Lord. May some find strength and courage to speak out about the damage to the Church that the creeping errors of modernism have inflicted. They, moreso than others, are in the position to see the damage done to the Body of Christ in the post conciliar Church.
