They would need to write a screenplay set in the early years of the Fourth Age to fit his present look As a Numenorean, he would probably fit well in the mid-100's but I'm not aware of any significant source material from that time. There might be a paragraph or two in the LoTR Appendices that covers those years, which were a time of peace and prosperity for Gondor.

When he died, I was reminded of his death scene in Return of the King. One of the best tear jerking moments in the trilogy. Great monologue. What a ride it was to see this in theaters back in the day!

@@shoff29 that would make no sense, since the hunt for gollum takes place between the scenes where gandalf tells frodo to hide the ring and goes to gondor, for us its minutes but in the books its 17 years that pass when he returnes at night asking 'is the ring safe'? so aragon cant be older in the hunt for gollum when he was younger afterwards. Would make zero sense.

I would be fan girling so bad if he would return. I understand he was in his 40s when he first played Aragorn. I think at 65 he still looks great. So handsome. Aragorn in the book's story, while hunting for Gollum was 70. I think he could pull it off. Darling Viggo. 😍

Nah. Has to be Viggo. He embodied the character and immersed himself into the role like no other could. He also looks incredible for his age, is in great shape, can ride horses, gets Tolkien, can swordplay. And he's one of the greatest actors of his generation. I also think how he looks now would even closer resemble book Aragorn if they gave him his Fellowship get up

I guess we're talking about using some kind of de-aging technique but it's about more than just the face, it's the voice and how the actor moves. DeNiro was made to look younger in the Irishman but whenever he had to get physical, like kicking that guy on the ground, they could hide that it was an old man doing the kicking. Obviously they have stunt doubles they can use but Viggo is the kind of guy who will want to do as much as he can himself. If the technology can make him look younger and he's fit enough to play younger then it's not a problem. I say all this knowing that Viggo is technically still younger than what Aragorn was during Lord Of The Rings lol

Viggo could have become a massive star after LOTR, like Tom Cruise level. He had it all - the looks, the charisma, better acting ability and no controversy. Instead he chose small but interesting projects like A History of Violence, Eastern Promises and A Dangerous Method (all with David Cronenberg as well, who is like Canada's David Lynch). All successful, but not big films, but all critically acclaimed and memorable. I especially think Eastern Promises is one of the best crime dramas ever made. I don't think he wanted superstardom.

Agree. I think he loves his trade - not the whole celebrity part. And once you have cashed in big time, it gives you the freedom to surplus what is in your heart. The film you mention are great.A History of Violence really went under my skin.

I read the LotR after the Fellowship of the Ring movie came out. Viggo wasn't what I had in mind from the books, but he was an amazing Aragorn and it was clear through the acting he's a good person. I'd truly fear any modern adaptation of LotR, and thus, fear what they'd do to Aragorn because of it. Viggo deserves better.

Let it showcase more of Nature Of Middle Earth and Anthology Of Middle Earth, Laws And Customs Of The Eldar and hunt for Gollum can be backdrop as well as main story in some cases. All while showing what was happening between the other races at this time too The culture of the Greenwood elves could be shown here for even in their capture of Gollum it’s known that even a captured orc would be treated with respect and unharmed. Wish I had the exact passage in front of me. For it was beautifully written. Can be three 2 hour long episodes put on Netflix after release in theatres as part 1-3 of one movie.

Everyone should go see "The dead don't hurt". Viggo wrote, directed, and starred in it and it is a great movie. If you want a break from all the brain dead hollywood garbage and watch a story about real characters and real struggles, then I highly recommend it.

Thanks Viggo Mortensen for potraying Aragorn in such an inspiring way that evokes masculinity, bravery, compassion, loyalty, friendship among other good traits that reflect the human nature. In Canon, King Aragorn ended up going to war with the Easterlings and also the Haradrim - so in terms of age of real-life characters, the fact we're 20 years on from the original LOTRs, we could see Viggo again. The only problem is, I can only see it as being a one-off movie but the studios will likely drag it out like "The Hobbit", which totally ruined it ("An Unexpected Journey" was superb but the next two, especially the third - which was only a few pages in the book - was made into a 2+ hour movie). They just need to be careful how to approach this.
