Baci302 I use a slightly taller saddle...just enough to play slide comfortably but not pull the guitar out of tune when I finger chords.

Truth Serum. Glass, wine bottle. Plastic does not produce a good tone on acoustic.

Just practice every day. You'll soon fall into the groove. The trick is the tunings. Rycooder.nl website has a massive list of tunings and tablature.
