Regarding the statement that "rifle cans" don't need to be taken apart to clean, I have a different view of that. It depends on what calibers you are talking about. 5.56 cans generally never need to be taken apart. Other calibers though it's a much different story. Bigger, or slower, or less pressure cartridges will definitely leave a whole lot more behind and thus cleaning would be a good idea. Do they have to be taken apart? No. They can be cleaned at home but cleaned none the less.
@VSO_Gun_Channel3 жыл бұрын

I bought an old Liberty Constitution last week. It's a big 1 3/4" diameter 4130 steel monocore. I understand fully welded cans are stronger, but nice to take it apart and clean it after 22LR or muddy day. It was Tough to decide an economy 223 Can. I was looking at these Witt Machine Cans, my local FFL stocks them, be decided to go with something larger and quieter. But then I saw these...

High intensity high heat cartridges tend to run clean, vs low pressure soot blasters like .22, 12 gauge, and 45.
@tyler61473 жыл бұрын
@@VSO_Gun_Channel While I don't have the 'luxury' or experience killing a suppressor having a (non maintained) can could possibly contribute to an 'untimely death'. That said there are a hundred ways not related to any of this that could harm a suppressor. That said if a person has so much junk in the can that when they shake it carbon comes out the ends isn't really a good thing. Over on Sniper's Hide there is a really long thread about cleaning sealed cans, complete with LOTS of photos of cans that definitely needed cleaning up. Once every year or two (depending on the amount of shooting) it certainly won't hurt. For most of us I think the idea of an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure... I weighed and cleaned two of my cans. The 5.56 didn't hardly gain any weight despite having a much larger round count. The 30 cal can, having maybe half the rounds of the 5.56 had 2-3 times (or more) of the carbon build up...Cleaning is not a requirement for anyone, but for me I will invest 10-20 bucks every other year just because I can.

it's too bad that camera sound recording always tries to mediate sound levels and you can't ever hear the true differences but you can get a good idea. If you listen to the suppressed shots, you can still hear everything going but you have to try to extrapolate, the initial impression is something akin to the John Wick terminal walkway scene where suppressed 9mm sounded like unattainable whispers. Although this can isn't that quiet, it's a lot less than one would expect and is very impressive. Thumbs 👍
