Thanks again for sharing the obvious overload of talent that Sligo SDA apparently has. This nice piece performed by a star soprano, Anika Sampson-Anderson and skillfully accompanied by Lloyd Mallory, Jr. was a joy to my ears! Being an organist myself, I'm always looking forward to your postings of Patrick Alston and his improvisational harmonic delights. But this time, I decided to see what else Sligo SDA has to offer musically, and I'm glad that I did! Your services must be musically awesome!

This is clearly based on Dr. Nathan M. Carter's arr., with which Mr. Mallory would be quite familiar, having been a member of the Morgan State University Choir under Carter's directorate. Lovely voice!

I am quite familiar with the song and it's composer, thank you. I was on the Morgan State choir in 1987, when Dr. Carter arranged this hymn as a choral anthem, or as you put it "an opera song". SMH! I was also on the choir with Mr. Lloyd B. Mallory, and I'm very clear that this solo rendition, which, again, is absolutely beautiful, is based solely on Carter's choral arrangement.
