Just stunning. Her style of gymnastics. The flow of elements and dance.

What was interesting was that every one of her beam routines at these games had hesitancy to them… and then she wins the world beam title just a year later with a smooth as silk performance. Shows how this event can be variable.

I rarely seen Mustafina execution do not break the rhythm. She could attack the beam more aggresive like in WC 2013

The pressure and tension of the Olympics most likely. It’s a very pressure packed event, easy to second guess yourself. She certainly didn’t on bars!

One and only DIVA.

Diva? No, definitely not. A fierce, focused and determined athlete who accomplished greatness? Absolutely. Diva was Svetlana khorkina who had a very nasty attitude towards so many others and was very disrespectful. Aliya was always kind and courteous to those she competed with.

@@saragrant9749 diva is often used as more of a compliment nowadays; i assume the commenter meant it that way

@@leapjumpsoar8049 Diva is most definitely NOT a compliment by any stretch of the imagination. It’s a term used to describe a difficult or unwilling to listen individual who refuses to acknowledge others suggestions, coaching or advice - thinking they alone know it all - as well as someone who constantly looks down or speaks demeaningly to others. Aliya was most certainly fierce, stubborn at times (but that’s what makes a champion), and a challenge for the coaches but never once looked down or spoke disrespectfully to others.

@ that’s true and that’s definitely what the word originally referred to. it CAN be used as a compliment though for some people - often within the younger generation it’s evolved to refer to an iconic and powerful woman rather than necessarily rude and uncooperative

@ that is true, yes. The word has evolved.

what was her intended d score had she connected all those elements together? the onodi to aerial walkover to bhso to back tuck, as well as the switch ½ to split jump to sissone
@FranciscoCunha20047 ай бұрын
I think she only did the back tuck I order to have an acro series, if she had connected the onodi to the front aerial and/or the front aerial to the back handspring she probably wouldn't have gone for the back tuck

No, as a matter of fact she was not. So typical of you self righteous, self entitled and self proclaimed “experts” on judging. Get off your lazy duff and go become an official before making selfish statements like that.

@@lucia60001Gabby actually HIT EVERY ROUTINE- which is why she won gold. Unless you’re a certified professional gymnastics judge, you’re in no position to degrade or demean those who are. Grow up.
