Seriously? On what knowledge authority does she gives a discourse on Maps? She hasnt spoken about Cartography in first place, but she is talking about maps, even in regard to history, I don’t think she had read Ptolemy’s texts properly. “If there is South-Westerly winds, it will take you 40 days to reach Musuri”, did ptolemy text say that really? Alexandria is in the northern part of Africa on the shores of Mediterranean, there is land mass between the Mediterranean and the Red Sea and further to Arabian Sea. Until the Suez Canal was dug, there was no direct merchant shipping lane from Alexandria to the Red Sea and then further to the Arabian Sea or further to India. The merchants travelled via land between Alexandria to Horn of Africa and then embark on the journey to India. Does it even make sense? Thank god she said atleast Ptolemy maps has many Tamil places, but what she didn’t know is that Ptolemy’s texts to some extent has closely come to depict the actual shape of Tamil Nadu land mass, which when converted to a map or picture would be surprisingly close the shape of the Tamil Nadu map. She jumped to ships being repaired and Travels on land. It started as a show about Maps and First Maps of Tamil Nadu, but she started talking about ships being maintained to land travel, Roman checkpoints. She can’t even speak properly without stumbling, and Vikatan is giving stage to such mediocre faux intellectuals.
