@@vidundergunder4861 nice to hear! don't think there's anything like that here in sweden (but this country have been in a downward spiral for the last 30 years, not so much common sense left, or resources for that matter (at least for the unlucky native swedes)). to remove thousands of years of chopping wood, roasting meat over open fire and getting dirty have to create a vacuum.

My wife passed away 4 years ago. Last fall to help keep my mind off of it I built a shanty shack out of saplings and covered it with tarps. It's 8x10 and so far held up to the ohio winters nicely

@@robertwilliams450 Sad to hear about your wife, I dont even want to imagine the pain!! But if you have built that, and over wintered you should maybe move on a next challenge. Like taking a hike to a erea that is not so familiar, or just get used to bringing only the necessery. That ofcourse depends on the climat. I have always wanted to hike in alaska, I always felt it's like norway on steroids :p it's the same, just more.. 👊

Not only are you spending time outdoors enjoying yourselves, but you're using the natural resources efficiently and without waste to construct something beautiful and having it blend in naturally to the environment. Hats off to you gentlemen. In a time of worry and desperation about climate change and resources it's lovely to see people like you enjoying the outdoors and respecting it

Well, I can honestly say that you have inspired me. I started out watching your pallet cabin build and then moved on to your super bushcraft camp. I was impressed with how your took logs that normally would have been cast away for nothing more than firewood and actually built something with them! Now, I'm not really into serious bush crafting, I'm more into building my homestead. I have been clearing my pastures on my new property of a lot of young trees. They are beyond saplings, yet the trunks are straight and tall. I hated to just toss them into a brush pile to be burned. So I have been saving them. Today, I took your inspiration and put those small tree trunks to use. It' wasn't much, just a temporary barrier to keep the horses out of an area that I seeded. But I think it will do the job and is only the beginning of what I can do with my FREE wood! THANK YOU for the inspiration! (And yes, there will be a video soon about it.)

This is a cool place to camp, hold outdoors classes and anything else you'd like. Some suggestions, trim the bark down off the end of your forked window prop, that way it won't swell and will always go in the hole. Also, when you cook something like leg of lamb or venison trim that "silvery" looking layer of membrane off before you cook it. I have found that it will make the meat more tender and it comes off fairly easy with a sharp knife. Next time try mixing some "crasins" ( dried cranberries) and orange zest into your bread as well as the nuts. I know it;s not "Viking" correct but it sure is good! Keep up the good work Mike and Dustin! Love watching the videos!

This has been an amazing project, I have really enjoyed this series of videos. Since I was a very young boy ( I`m now 63) I wanted to build a small round house after learning about ancient Britons at junior school. Before you tube I thought I was strange, but it seems I am not alone wishing to get back to basic living off grid. Just one slight criticism , Imperial measurements???? A lot of young folk have been brought up with the metric system and do not know what a quarter of an inch is.:) When building stuff I use both metric and imperial. Thank you for sharing.

The Anglo-Saxon and Viking era is my major to be honest. You know I have really enjoyed this project from the beginning to finish. You have made the odd mistake but they are so minor they have not taken anything from the project you set out to do. I take my hat off to you all. I don't know if you are doing the Church Farm meet in July but if you do come find us. I am taking 5 gallons of my own home brew apple and pear flavour mead, now that brew I am tending is 20% so bring those horns if you are going. Victory or Valholl lads :-)

By providing a historically accurate living history project which is not only hands on but a hub for those that wish to have a hub for the heathen and pagan faiths which are on the rise in the UK. I am not overly worried about making loads of money, some would be nice, but as an Odinist Heathen myself I consider it a duty to spend a small fortune to make sure we have a place once my current obligations are no longer needed. The problem with the heathen orientated hofs we have today is that they tend to be 'look but don't touch' What me, my family and our hearth are doing is to build a place that is welcoming to any which wish to escape the mundane and find a bit of bygone head mending. There will be money enough if one knows how feasts were held, when and to whom they would be a welcome. I hope that explains your question.

Jeez, I watched this entire series and I am absolutely craving this so badly. The only problem is finding someone to do something like this with you is a mission on its own along with the fact that we don't have forests like that here in South Africa xD

Likewise, I'm really inspired to do this now (along with watching some primitive channels) but the people I can think of who'd be up for this either work important jobs that they can't take time off, are at Uni, or too poor to afford time away. It sucks, but I guess it just means this will be all the more amazing when I do get round to it?

Dustin, I am a pro cook. You sir are in my humble opinion a woodland chief. Seriously man. I like how you make the fire an extension of you. Yea. You're an absolute bad ass bro.

Great idea with the window, wish I thought of that. The hole in the roof, If you have built a flap to go over that letting the smoke out but keeping the rain from getting in then you have built a proper "Ridge Vent". just a thought. love the "Tactical thermal deflecting rotisserie" A bit of problem solving and ingenuity in engineering. great job man. can't wait for the next one, you guys are just full of surprises. by the way, Dustin, did you enjoy the Mango? LOL.epic. Thanks for sharing guys. from the swamps of Central Florida, I'll seaya in the next one.

fresh baked bread and a half leg of lamb .... nom nom nom nom food of the gods. Nice job men. Love the fire pit and the shelter. It is really coming along. Brilliant. Maybe not historical accurate but still fun and smart.
