I had the good fortune to be in Dublin for its 1000 year anniversary... oh and saw U2 perform live above the marquee of the Savoy Cinema at the premiere of Rattle And Hum!

This is just an Anglo Irish accent, which was commonly spoken by those in broadcasting at the time. Like Gay Byrne.
