Hello my friend. Im glad to hear that. Its Nice when Things we see can take us back in happy memories. I wish i had the time, money or option to do way more of this. Its by far some of my Best moments spend when on out.

I admire your tenacity and attention to detail, using primitive tools and fabrication methods. The hike through the countryside and sightings of the animals there is wonderful! I would be very interested in videos showing the making of the tools. As soon as I can procure suitably sized rawhide, I will use this instruction to make a lantern. Thank You for sharing this with me. Skal!

thank you for the kind words Erik. about making tools, i promise i will try to do more of that. I am planning one about making a pump drill. But most of my tools are metal and iron, and i need them in high quality and my own skills are not there yet so it is better for me to buy from blacksmiths. I hope you find some suitable rawhide and make a great lantern.) all the best

Beautiful video. soothing music, great location, and a wonderful, useful project. but of course, the highlight for me was that adorable little sewing knife. just fantastic.
@RAMUNI-Viking Жыл бұрын
I love that little knife. Bought the blade from a blacksmith and made the knife myself. The fact that it folds makes it great to take along and store inside small bags or pouches. And I keep it razorsharp:) im happy to hear you appreciate it:)

the rumor/myth about this "Viking lamp" most likely dates from when the medieval center in Guldborgsund opened back in the late 1980s ... a historian brought a lamp from Norway from around the 18th century with him at the opening, and a American film crew that was on the spot, to make a documentary about the Trebuchet construction (the biggest one in the world). Their film and pictures might have helped to spread the "idea" that this was a lamp from the Viking/Middle Ages...🤷♂ fed video, man får helt lyst til at pakke sine ting og flytte ud i naturen ...👍 many thanks for showing and please keep up the good work 👌

My sincerest thanks for taking us on another one of your wonderful adventures! You got some beautiful shots of the wildlife there. I think this is the first time that I've ever seen someone build one of these lanterns with traditional tools. You did a great job of it! And I adore your Mästermyr hacksaw - did you make it yourself? Is the sawblade also traditional, or a modern blade?
@RAMUNI-Viking Жыл бұрын
Thank you Ingvar. Im very happy you appreciate the video. The hacksaw I bought at a Viking market from a German merchant. Im pretty sure the blade is not modern. But not 100% sure. It cuts well but not as well as a modern blade and also is not change able.

Where did you get the rawhide that thin?
@RAMUNI-Viking7 ай бұрын
I buy a whole sheet (calf) from my local leather and Crafts supplier that is Like this. It is lntended for drum skin.
@robertgross1655 Жыл бұрын
🎩Hi. Seems very easy to make. Only one problem is, in England the only place you can get rawhide is from a pet shop in the form of dog chews, and it’s only thin strips. About 3” wide.
@RAMUNI-Viking Жыл бұрын
Its is fairly easy to make. Especially with modern tools also. Its possible to see Them together but I bought a while hide from a musical shop meant for a drumskin for tradition traditional drums like Bodhran or shama drums. Maybe thats the direction to look for largwr pieces. It gets pricy though. But there a good few lamps from a whole goat hide

Does your pet shop sell the rolled up rawhide chews? They look like a little log. Soak them overnight and unroll them to get a decent sized piece.
