The more the merrier, all we want is that it's respected. Our heritage doesn't have a great track record of being portrayed positively in pop culture, which is understandable considering different perspectives, but there's lots of culture to love and enough room for everyone. Nothing wrong with cultural appreciation, and we're all a little bit nuts up here in northern Europe, so nothing wrong with that lol

I just went to a 1870s fair.love the authentic goods.musket firing,az throwing,archery,foods,cast iron cooking, awesome.bought a spoon carved from a horn,polished like glass.

That was great Tom. I am a 18th and 19th century reenactor in Texas. This looks quite a lot like the venders we have only the food you showed made me hungry. What great looking meat , sausages and bread. Looks like the same kind of people too. You have your Artisans, Reenactors, and some that look like old Hippies that live the lifestyle LOL.

Oh my word!!! That was absolutely fabulous! Almost like being there! I thought how wonderful to see people celebrating and sharing their cultural heritage, but then had to remind myself that it is MY heritage too! I was adopted and always knew I was half Norwegian, but obviously was not brought up with any of the history or culture. I ve always been drawn to it, but without any substance behind it…. Not sure if that makes sense..but, it is real and it is my birthright…. Apologies if I m oversharing. Definitely on my bucket list to visit something like this, that was an amazing insight. Tom, wonderful experience witnessing people of an ancient heritage enjoying their lives and each other through re-enactment and every day interaction. The open air market was stunning with the goods and wares made by hand authentically by the descendants of the Viking culture. The artwork is spectacular as expressed in the colors and designs of the old world brought forth by modern hands. It must have been a great time, although I didn't see you "fighting" with sword and shield, I'm sure you would have done well. Thanks for the trip and good time. 👌

Excellent video, I live in Shetland and my ancestor is a man called Hendrich Hendrichsson(1450 AD) who lived on the most northerly island of Unst. Unst has the highest density of viking house sites in Shetland and just recently a pendent was found with runic letters inscribed on it. People think we "part" of Scotland but we're really not and have nothing in common with Scotland .
