Yes, there was a bit of mic feedback in this video. Ghost Division was the first song of this concert, and I have have heard from people who was there that it was sorted in the next song. I wouldn't be surprised if all was good and well during the soundcheck earlier, when everyone was standing still on the "X"-es on the stage, but then you get to the concert and Joakim starts running around everywhere on the stage, front-back, left-right... Cheers / B.

Jocke and Pär (singer and bass player) are so down to earth. I have seen Sabaton (old lineup) live three times. One was on a rock boat cruise and I bought a Sabaton "Army-tag-necklace" for my ex and I had problems open it, then Joakim showed up and said "Let me help you". Me and my ex was photographed together with Per on another concert for a newspaper. They´re like any ordinary guys. The "new guys" in the band are awesome singing and playing as well. In Swedish: Tack för superbra konserter med massor av energi!
@starsword-c25343 жыл бұрын
According to festival organizers the attendance that year was on the order of 750,000 people, of which about 550-600k attended Sabaton's headlining set. And this is not the original lineup; all those guys except bassist Pär Sundström joined in 2012. Guitarist Chris Rörland is still with the band. The guy with the Stratocaster is Thobbe Englund, who was replaced by Tommy Johansson in 2017, and the drummer is indeed Robban Bäck, who stayed for less than a year before leaving because he had a kid and being replaced by then-Evergrey drummer Hannes.
@unowestlund18483 жыл бұрын
This drummer is Robert Bäck who played with the band for about a year after the split in 2012, and then left to become a father. He now plays with Mustache from Gothenburg. The blond guitarist is Thobbe Englund who left the band just before Tommy joined Sabaton. Thobbe prioritized his young son, but have recently joined Civil War, a band started by the four members who left Sabaton in 2012.

I love reading the caption you have at 7:25 "if this doesn't fire up a crowd...nothing will!" is super accurate because ever since they came out with this song I believe every single concert starts with this song because of its fast paced out of no where energy and it doesn't really have a dip other then a solo

I love your reactions! I litterally went "Yay!" when I saw a new Sabaton upload. :D Your reaction to this live performance is pretty spot on to my own when I first watched this one. Joakim's smile is just so damn contagious, I've watched this performance so many times and I still can't stop smiling along with him when I do. They all look completely overjoyed and who can blaim them? I watched a documentary that showed them going to Poland and arriving at the festival site. It was the largest show they had ever done and they looked kinda overwhelmed at it all but super excited. I can really recommend the song "Uprising" from the same concert, Woodstock 2012. It's a song about the polish resistance movement against the Nazis in Warsaw. Performed in front of a huge polish crowd. Also, the song is fantastic. Side note. The written comments on the screen during the video were great. I like how I get to know more about what you're thinking and feeling about the song and the video that way. Keep up the great work! :)

That show is why Poland Rock (formerly Polish Woodstock, because apparently the guy that started Woodstock threatened to sue for using the name) has politely asked that Sabaton not perform there again, because it's free attendance and their security is not prepared for 550k-750k people showing up. Less fun fact, when you listen to the song Fields of Verdun, and they mention three quarter million people died in that battle over the course of 303 days. Yeah, that's that crowd. More fun fact. Yeah, Rommel was a pretty okay dude. He didn't agree with Nazi ideology, but his country goes to war and he's gonna do his duty as a soldier. He still treated prisoners with respect, he refused to kill captured Jews, and he led from the front with his men. He was also crafty as hell, once he realized Leeroy Jenkins'd his way into France and accidently cut himself off, he turned back and happened upon a convoy of French trucks loaded with men heading to the front lines. He pulled his tank around the convoy and parked it in front. With only himself and the men in the tank, he ordered the convoy of dozens of French troops to surrender because they had crossed into German controlled territory. As Sabaton's historian tells it "and Rommel did this with his general's uniform and commanding tone, alone", and the French complied because clearly they must've crossed German lines if the Germans approached from the rear. Sadly, Rommel was forced to commit suicide in order to spare his family after Operation Valkyrie failed (the plot to assassinate Hitler), and while Rommel had no part in it, the SS thought him guilty enough for simply knowing of the plot (which he did, but chose to neither help for hinder). After his death, Allied command did remark he was the last gentlemanly opponent.
@alexs71893 жыл бұрын
In the battle of Verdun not three million people died, but 1.2 million if we take the highest estimate made recently, but you see that the Sabatons sing of battles with more deaths, such as the Battle of Stalingrad, with about 2 million deaths.

A Swedish band opening their show by singing about a German WWII soldier in Poland. The power of music. Being a German myself, I prefer from the historical background 40:1 more, although Rommel wasn’t a Nazi himself. I note that the largest German military base is named in honor of Erwin Rommel, the leader of the 7 panzer division, precisely the Ghost Division, at the inauguration of the base there were also the general's wife and son. On the fact that someone asks why he was given the name of a general of the third reich, the answer is quite simple, during the war period, Rommel was respected not only by the allies of Germany, and internally in Germany, but also by the enemies of the Germany, had clashes first with the SA and then with the SS, for their brutal methods and for the persecution of the Jews. And then there is the fact that he is thought to have collaborated in the failed assassination attempt of Hitler, and for this he was forced to commit suicide, then it was the allies who fueled what is called "the myth of Rommel", for to use a "good German" during the war, to prepare the rearmament of West Germany in an anti-communist function.

Erwin Rommel was one of the very few generals of WWII, after whom military bases and ships of the Bundeswehr were named after, after the war. He was forced to suicide by the regime, because he possible knew about the plan for the assassination of Hitler in july 20th 1944.

Hello, we must also say that in addition to him there was also General Hasso von Manteuffel, who after the war became a politician, it was he who decided that the German armed forces of West Germany should be called Bundeswehr.

"wrong side of war" doesn't excist, the German people were in dire need of change. The country was suffering. Fighting FOR a nazi regime does not mean you ARE a nazi. Wehrmach soldier simply were not nazi's. Just because RUTTE and VVD are the biggest party doesn't make the entire Netherlands VVD. That take got me quite upset actually. Not because I care about Rommel but hopefuly you understand.
