Thank you for sharing your trip. My wife and I along with two other couples are taking the same cruise this October. We are very excited and can’t wait. Thanks again.

Great video. Especially liked that you added captions so we could know what we were seeing. Viking does a wonderful job of taking care of their cruising guests. Thank you for sharing and the extra tips on things to do in addition to the cruise offerings. Will watch all your videos.

Thanks for the wonderful video. We are doing the same route in December 2024. Ours will have an emphasis on the Christmas markets. We are taking an extra day in Basil to stave off any jet lag. We were just curious about tipping and currency exchange. Any advice?

Thank you, comfortable, large room.Hitler’s tanks ruined the Back Forest, really enjoyed seeing the forest is returning to the density it once had. My mom was very upset in the 1980’s at the sparsity. Amazing cruise, loved the itinerary ! Would love to cruise but not sure since I now am confined to an electric wheelchair. The magic of the castles !

River cruises are so much more interesting than ocean cruises, so much more to see for the simple fact, that once you’re out in the middle of the ocean, the water all looks the same

Great video! We did the same cruise in December, the Christmas Market cruise. The problem with that cruise is you get less history and nature and more "here is free time to shop". Christmas shopping is fine but after 1PM the areas are as crowded as American malls, each one had the same stuff (gluiwein, ornaments, nativity scenes) and very few had singular handcrafts. Viking still made it all worthwhile.

I just came back from the same cruise, Basel to Amsterdam, but with the Christmas Markets. The castles and the hillsides around them were covered in snow. Interesting to see the same views on this video, but without the snow. We still had the tour guides who took us around the towns with wonderful information. I liked seeing your video of the top outside of the ship. We couldn’t go out there. Too icy. I wonder if I met Loril L on the ship. I just saw their comment. It was a great trip. I don’t have other cruise experience but we were very well taken care of with Viking.

we did this cruise back in 2017, they upgraded us for free to a two room suite, french balcony and balcony. british airways fouled up our baggage, so in base we had to do some shopping, got our luggage the next day. viking is the best.

I do recall several people using walkers, no wheelchairs that I can recall. We just finished as Viking Sea cruise to Norway and there were wheelchair passengers on it.

Generally what were the temperatures that you encountered on the trip and was there any fall foliage coming out when you visited?
@keithwinter7922 ай бұрын
As you can see from the video, just about the right kind of coolness. Some of the time we were in short sleeves, but mostly just very very comfortable. Most of our stops were along the river and in large to medium cities. The overrall views are so spectacular, that I don't recall foliage with any specificity other than just post card type pictures everywhere. Our side trip to the Black Forest will give you an idea of the amount of leave coverage. I would do this trip again if the opportunity comes up. Have fun.

I did a 2 week cruise from amsterdam to budapest.. last August only 120 on the boat about 90% americans a few Australians and canadians... 3 scots and 2 english... i was one of the english.. and i was the only solo traveller... so it was wierd to do a European holiday with almost not Brits.... i realised afterwards that Vikings target customers are americans. . No problem except i came down with covid on day 5.. so i had to spend 5 days in my cabin... other than that.. i met lots of great people it was an enjoyable river cruise

I did that cruise in July for my birthday on the 18th Amsterdam to Basil and loved it. Don't see where you did the Colmar extension with the WWII museum and where Audie Murphy won his Medal of Honor. I didn't do the Marksburg castle extension but now wish I had. The windmills were nice to visit and all those castles along the Rhine were great. I did the Seine river last December when it was about 40 degrees but would recommend you do that in warmer weather. Very nice video well made and glad you had a good trip.

Thanks! Headed to our first group travel after 30 years of independent travel! Viking Rhine Christmas next week! Question; are the beds king or queen size? I’ve seen both sizes referred to online. Thanks! Lastly, do the guided tours go into the Cologne and Strausburg Cathedrals? If not, we want to do this and will book on our own.

The mask thing was only instituted that week again for the crew. I guess Viking ha a smal outbreak, so they asked the crew to " mask up" At not time were the passengers asked to wear them and there was never a concern around Covid while we were there. In fact, Viking insisted that we take a booster before the trip (which I totally disagreed with, but did) and yet we were never even asked or had to show proof a said vaccine. I was overall happy with our travel experience. I'm over Covid and will never mask up again or take another vaccine of any kind.....Time to live my life to the fullest.
@OurBigHouseintheLittleWoods Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video Keith! My wife and I are considering the same cruise in the future. I'm curious if you every had to provide proof of COVID vaccination to Viking prior to your cruise? I keep getting conflicting information - I suppose it depends on which cruise you take with Viking.

As long as you allow others to live, my children’s father, a USA Army Veteran & father of our deceased Army Veteran son, needed a little surgery. Admitted, he could b not be given a critical care room or surgery because all the beds were occupied with covid-19 patients,not vaccinated, he died. My daughter is without her dad, because the people who made their choice to reject the heath care recommendation of vaccination however when they felt sick, sought the health care they rejected. I want everyone to receive good health care but really when you want to make a choice, accept the consequences of the choice you made please ! My daughter’s dad died, waiting for a hospital room, he was vaccinated.

First, thanks for viewing my video. And I hope your comment was just being facitious, hard to tell in a text. Having said that, the most dangerous part of that trip was the drive to and from the airport. The trip was amazing and I am no longer listening to the powers that control the narrative. Time to get back to living my life as a free and unafraid citizen. In my life, COVD is done, as actually declared by most governments in the world. I hope you subscribe to my channel to continue to enjoy my free life.

@@keithwinterjourneys You are very selfish. Protecting yourself and the rest of us from Covid has nothing to do with freedom. If you want to fight for freedom, go to the Ukraine.
