Oh gorgeous shots you got there! The aerial shots, the framing of the flower with you in the background. And the wildlife! Love the majestic deer, and I laughed out loud when the fox sprang from the bush! And what a privilege to be seeing the wolves like that. I'm envious! 😄 Looks like it was a wonderful trip, thank you for sharing it with us. I hope it was as relaxing, enjoyable and rejuvenating as it looked! All the best my friend!

Thank you my friend. Im happy to hear you appreciate the cinematic part of it:) its something i strive for. The trip was really good and relaxing.but the Mosquitos kept me from finding good sleep as I spend most of the night trying to keep my head covered under the leather hoodie. But still its good for the soul to be out so its a fair trade. All the best:)

Thanks for watching and its great to have you onboard. The sad part about My Wilderness is that it is not very big. Little oasises among farmed fields. I have spend countless Hours in the early morning and evening waiting for the wolfes, getting to know them and their paths etc to try to optimize my chances. But still i must say that encounters like this one here is very rare. Where is your Wilderness? All the best

@@RAMUNI-VikingI live in southwestern part of Serbia. Small town called Prijepolje. (once I've heard in some documentary, that big part of people here have lots percentage of Scandinavia DNA) Its a mountain side country with an altitude of 1200 m above sea level on average. Greatest peak on Jadovnik mountain is 1733m, which is some 20km + from me. From there i can see 2/3 of Serbia, also a good part of Montenegro and Albanian mountains can be seen, the Prokletije and Durmitor. I understand now how you managed to film them, you must have been very happy when you did it. National Geographic should hear about you.

That wolf sighting is magical. The way he stared directly at you. I'm not sure if I could have kept the camera this steady. Last Sunday I was hiking and nearly shat my pants when a roebuck jumped across the trail just 10 meters in front of me. 😅 Still was a beautiful moment though.

I really like this. I am actively taking mental notes on how you made, set up, and used that tarp/tent. There were a few safety details I really hope you did differently off camera, like hanging your extra food and the deliciously steak-smelling trencher up off the ground for the night away from wildlife, but you pay so much attention to details in the rest of the things you do, I'll assume you did. I thought the bannock/pancake thing looked acceptable, but when you fried it in butter and pulled out the black jar of honey, I felt the best kind of envy. As for your silent neighbors, Wolves are special, and they are no fools. I've seen coyotes, and a bear that was fishing in a river, but never wolves. Thank you for sharing this.
@RAMUNI-Viking5 ай бұрын
Hello. Thank you for this friendly and positive comment. We do not have bears here and the wolfes stays very well clear of People. So i did not do anything Else for safety here. If i am in an area with wild boar i do take more care. I was once followed for several hundred meters by 2 wild boars during the Winter time. I think they smelled the Banana in my backpack. The wolfes Are thriving in denmark these years. And there is so much deer and sadly also sheep, so they have plenty of other and easier food Sources. It might chance in the future but for now there is No safety issue here. But thanks for the feedback and it surely made me reflect. I appreciate that:)

Beautiful video 25 minutes and I enjoyed every second, looking at my phone under my canvas tarp, bad weather here, it seems to be autumn at times. Beautiful Viking equipment Rasmus, that birch backpack also works brilliantly as a table. I bet you made that tarp yourself too, how big is it? And that size knife, what style of knife is it, it is not scandi grind but flat grind, did you make it yourself or did you buy it? I wish we could do this in the Netherlands, just wild camping, but unfortunately, I may have to emigrate to Denmark, we don't live that far apart. 😉 I will definitely watch this video again, thanks for sharing Rasmus!
@RAMUNI-Viking5 ай бұрын
Thank you. Good to hear you Are out and I Hope the weather improves. The backpack has worked so well for quiet some years now and it doubles very well as a small table. I sewed the tarp myself from linen and added boltrope and loops to Mimic a small sail. Its 2,5x2,5 meters Ca. Its a heavy bundle with wool blankets and sheepskin inside but it works. The knife handle was forged by a great friend and master blacksmith and put together by another friend as a gift to a third friend. It was then passed un to me a while back. We dont live too far apart here neither and its difficult to find "remote" here as well. Even here sometimes a car in the distance or a chainsw far off can ruin the magic. Sadly. Enjoy your trip

A really beautiful place and your video is extremely well done. I just subscribed to your channel. One question, can wolves pose any danger or is there no risk in camping with the pack nearby?
@RAMUNI-Viking5 ай бұрын
Hello. Thanks for subscribing and taking the time to write. The wolfes here Are extremely shy, they dont want contact and they have plenty of easy food Sources in the form of deers. So i am not worried at All about the wolfes. I sometimes hike in an area with wild boar. Those i respect at alot and would not want too close to my camp. There is No recorded attacks from Wolves to humans in the wild in Europe for the last 20+ years i believe. But it is a hot topic and the presence of wolfes does something to many People. Both in a good or a bad way. That being said. The wolfes Are in this particular area and that evening i Saw old tracks in the valley, but the specific footage of the wolfes in this video is shot some days earlier in a forest nearby. Sometimes im very lucky on my viking trips to see some wildlife but then the camera lense is not optimal and I make a lot of noise making camp etc. So i often do scouting trips before the trip itself in camo with a telephoto lense and record some nature:)

Wow! Your commitment to historical accuracy is not only impressive but fascinating to see - beautiful gear! The cinematography was superb! I loved the wildlife shots too! This was a stirring work of art from every perspective. So glad to have come across your channel tonight and shall certainly sub. Just 2 questions: 1) What was the tinder material you were using to strike the sparks onto? Bark? 2) Why were all those trees cut down in the little valley you were in? Thank you so much for your time. Congratulations on this beautiful work!

Hello. Im glad you found the channel. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to write this kind and positive comment. I highly appreciate that. Its a dried tinder fungus. Amadou. It catches a spark very well. And then birch bark with All its oils. The clearing was cut during the cold war as a plan to hide military gear in the woods from satelite photos i believe. Its close to a military flight path. But the plan was never executed and now its kept for recreative area. I Hope this answers your questions. Else feel free to write again. All the best

Being a viking reenactor myself, me and some friends did a few hikes in historical outfit 4 years ago. It was a great experience, but I also learned the historical sleeping kit is quite heavy to take along. I was wondering: how much did your total kit weigh? And in particular: how much does your linen tarp weigh? And, of course: thank you for the wonderful video! :)

Hello. Thanks for watching and for commenting. Sadly i did not weigh the bed roll but you are absolutely right. It is heavy stuff. I dont know how much the tarp itself weighs but I think the roll weight maybe 15 kilos. The Winter version is a lot heavier. I once tried to carry it on a simple pack frame but it was really unforfortable. So for this short trip i opted for a shoulder strap. Still heavy but managable. Next i will add a big soft leather patch for the shoulder as the 6mm rope was hard on the shoulder. But this was a short hike to it was ok. I Will try and weigh the tarp at some point:) All the best
