To anybody who's reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind. May clarity replace confusion. May peace and calmness fill your life.

And when u took a DNA test.. I didn't even surprise.. I am 53% north African(amazigh) and 36% northern Europe (Nordic)... And iam so proud of that.. God bless our people 🙏

This soundtrack brings back memories of when I was little, just learning about the Gods. And as I listened, I remembered what my dad had told me; "If someone ever comes up to you and asks for a drink, you give it to him. You never know if it could be Odin in disguise." To this music, I raise my drink to you Danheim! Skål!

From their Nordic homes.. I get it.... I have a similar story only it was my great grandparents who came to America from Germany. I feel this in my soul.. I have native American blood on the other side of my family. I enjoy listening to songs of the past from that part of my blood as well.. Having that kind of spiritual feeling being that in touch with your past self.. is sadly all but lost to most..

I think that music like this, for many, answers the deep need for spirituality and "authenticity" of culture in the secular West. Spirituality doesn't necessarily mean religion (and culture doesn't have to mean nationalism, fuck that) but more a contemplation of life, humanity, passions, our roots, togetherness, the past and the future, the universe - beyond ourselves, our material needs, positivism. (For many, Christianity and Christian music doesn't seem to offer that any more, although of course it can to some.)

We owe all of our genres of music to our ancestral music... The music of our ancestors had purpose either to honor the gods or medicine or burials it all had very symbolic purpose and meaning.... Handalf - and you know this because...? It has everything to do with culture - otherwise this music wouldn’t be classified “Viking music” in the first place, would it. Why don't you go listen to something Chinese or Arab ancient style? I don’t listen to for example Arab music, because I truly don’t like it whilst the people living there, loves it because it speaks to THEM and I don’t think anybody has elected you to be a judge deciding what people should or shouldn’t feel when listen to music. It’s just like when I sit down by a burial mound in my homeland, I feel something deep inside and in peace, whilst the feeling I have when touching something ancient in another country is curiosity or nothing. People all over the world would tell you the same. Whether it is something like inherit memory or just the familiarity, I don’t know but the feelings are real and should be respected.
@Rakadazan
@Rakadazan 5 жыл бұрын
Randi, you are correct! I never thought about it but I don't feel the same way about other culture's ancient music, unless we include Bach, Beethoven, Wagner or just about any other classical. But the Viking music from Danheim and Wardruna speak to me in a deep and satisfying way that I have never experienced. My DNA is Scandinavian and Celtic and I can only guess why I like this music or these sounds, even the Nordic language sounds beautiful to me.

I think you are just clamouring for an identity that is more exciting than "office clerk with a sedentary lifestyle". This music is great, I totally agree! But is it really the music that people would have or could have made over a thousand years ago? Or is it just modern music that we attribute to this one place in one period of time? Besides, we all have thousands of individual ancestors. Why would the ones that lived in the viking age be more important than the ones that lived in other periods of time?

I really love Danheim's viking music, its so nice to hear music that sounds like it could have come from the era, it brings a lot of very pure emotions, and is a great ambience for a dnd campaign set in the northern reaches of a land, populated by viking-like tribal warriors. I just love it so much, and intend to use it for the dnd campaign I DM. Thank you Danheim for making this amazing music.

@@djmidnightwolf2606 May be so. I liked reading the Elder Edda because Nordic poetry very well depicts how the spirit of people was strengthened in their unity and struggle against the beautiful and harsh forces of nature.

Respect from the Celts and Gaels from Ireland. Respect the old paths and teach your Children's ,children's children'. We are from a path of Mother Nature ,pagan and heathen but always true. My culture and language and music was attempted to be erased. British colonials tried to bury us and wipe our ancestors paths away,but my people are seeds,from Mother Nature. The deeper they bury us the more we grow. Saoirse.
